the neat thing about this piece is that in some ways it's better recorded than live (i've never performed it, but i've seen it a few times). you can really play pppppppp on a cd, and it works great, the listener strains to hear it trickling out of their speakers. live, nothing below ppp or so really works, because the sound of all those humans moving and breathing obscures it. really lovely.
