I like the Aeron and have one at home. I have a steel case at work and its pretty good too and in fact may be more comfortable.
The problem with the Steel Case for me is that the build quality doesnt feel nearly as durable as the Aeron. The Aeron feels like itll last me for life (And as I'm a heavy ass mofo ~245 pounds) even after ~3 years it feels as solid as the day I got it. My steel case which I've used for about as long at work feels only slightly better and more durable built than your average office chair and has definitely broken down a bit since I first received it.
I am looking at buying the new Herman Miller Embody chair which is their new top of the line office chair... it looks extremely comfortable and even more sturdy than the Aeron chair. I probably will audition it with my hindquarters when I am ready to buy.

(Not enormously SFW, duh, but just look how much they're enjoying that Blue Note reissue!)
I love you. I am the milkman of human kindness. I will leave an extra pint.
^^^Yeah, that one looks pretty fucking comfortable.

Aimless, how do you like the Ekornes? I've been looking to pick up a used/vintage one for a bit to accompany/replace my iJoy, but I haven't actually sat in one.
Give me reincarnation or give me death.
The most comfortable chairs in my home. They are the chairs everyone who visits wants to sit in, and they never give them up. The tension adjustment can be a problem area (easy to repair). Leather quality could be better but they have held up remarkably well.
The real question is would buy them again? Yep.
I love my Aeron. At the time I purchased, I was seriously considering a Leap, but the deal I got on my Aeron was too good. Their 12 year warranty is for real - when I needed a replacement seat, I received one, via FedEx, within 24 hours of making the call.
I'm waiting for CostCo to get La-Z-Boys back in. Then that will have to suffice.
It's not arms or legs
I sit on a single wooden dowel, to avoid as much reflection as is possible. Of coarse it's Walnut (Fir or Poplar just won't do for Dr. Wood). I like to round over the top end for ease of entry, and a poly finish is a must for cleanliness.
As a warning, we've all heard of port chuffing... well this may cause some port chafing.![]()
Well that is just simply disturbing. Really.
Walnut? Not nearly dense enough. Maple, possibly. But certainly not walnut. Besides, both walnut and cherry for that matter will add their unique colorations to the sound.![]()
And I do hope that we migrate this discussion back to the aeron chair.....a much less disturbing picture. Though I do usually sit in a copy of the less expensive herman miller chair mentioned earlier - the Ergon3 not as comfortable as the Stressless Recliner that I would like to afford, but a pretty good desk chair, especially for the price.
So Steve -- when are you coming out? I mean, I think everyone already knows, and they're giving you about a hard a time as you're going to get, so what are you afraid of man?
