I loved the TKD CP2511 I had previously...definitely tops for a pot. It does have a slightly different curve for attenuation than your standard alps, though.

As far as I know, they are both log scales, just one slightly modified?

oops, i was wrong... I was thinking linear = linear log scale I'll do some research, I think they just have different angles of operation. I'm assuming you have the balanced versions guys?

According to TKD's web site they don't make a balanced version. Rotary Faders [TKD]. Note that they have a CP2500 and a CP2511 standard... the 00 is 30 degrees rotation versus 310 degrees I believe for the CP2511, which is what Percy and partsconnexion sell.

However, Potentiometer, Kohle, Leitplastik shows up to a 6 gang version. They aren't exactly cheap, particularly in present exchange rate terms. Which is why I'll either use a Dantimax or Twisted Pear relay control for the Aleph P1.7 when I get around to it.

Default And Now For Something Different

Well here goes. I became tired of my T-Amp based office rig and decided to try something different. I used the TA2020 based chip Charlize II because of the good price to performance to ease of build factors. Rather than use a Hammond case I designed something that better matched my office aesthetics and used a acrylic plastic vendor I have used in the past for some speaker projects.

Also, found this on the 'net today... dunno how accurate it is, perhaps Kevin can comment:

ouch...still not a bad price, imo

I want to try their preamp ir volume control, but I'm not thrilled about using an alps blue. It looks like one of the motorized ones, so it probably can't be changed out.

well, we'll see how it goes... simplifies my preamp (no extra psus), so I'm happy about that. I also stocked up on those big Rifa caps they sell for coupling caps.

Sweet! That second one is kind of the reverse of what we've been talking about. We can do something very similar. I like the soft edges in the first pic.
