Those are gorgeous, Nate; nice job as usual. I keep contemplating a cup-n-cable on my HF-1s; that pic is just more fuel for that fire.

Nah, who knows how much to put back there? If someone can show me a picture of the RS-1 drivers with it on there I might have a go w/ the HF-1s.

I just added a small part of blue tak on there. Just guesstimated according to some pics I've seen from the RS-1s.

Isn't the correct answer to this, "as much as you can"? Less backwave == better?

In honor of Beeeely I decided to build another ugly beta22. Still a couple details to wrap up like replacing the screws on the top panel with black coated pieces, wiring the speaker outputs which will be switched off the headphone jack and adding some shielding to the trafo just to be sure. I think I went through enough drama with that last time that even though the amp seems silent right now I'd rather be safe than sorry.

And of course the pron shot.

One more thing, this officially signals my retirement from building amps for other people. It's been a long time coming and I've been spent way too much time in the last 3 years building stuff for other folks all the while tossing my own projects aside to the point where, looking back, out of the 50 or so amps that I've built I think less than 10 were ever intended for me and I only only 3 of those (cmoy, MINT, Millett). I'll still continue building cables from time to time as they are fun and easy but enough with stuff like this that takes 10hrs of friggen case work to do a decent job.

Yes, given that there is essentially no protection built into this amp (current limit wise) I think that Ti was/is concerned that if the amp became unstable due to a capacitive load and started to oscillate it could literally cook itself and probably do some damage. But really that's a guess and this is not my forte. I just tend to take the advice of those long since proven to know a heck of a lot more than I do.

And thanks for the kind words guys. I hope it didn't come across all melodramatic, that wasn't the intent. It just kind of happens that when I post stuff like this I usually see a spike in my PM box (over "there" even) and I'd like to head that off at the pass. I think some folks don't quite understand the time that these things take and for me it's hard to get to the end of a build like this and then send it out the door. I'm somewhat of a proud papa even with the ugly ones.

I'm almost done with the first Cmoy and expect the other one to be done soon. More importantly I thought we'd agreed given the pure military specification aspect of that project that it would be kept black ops, top secret, etc??
