If I was in the room with that, I would probably find myself compelled to reach out and touch some of the exposed bits. My fingers seem to seek out high-voltage whereever it may be... I have a hard enough time keeping my hands away from the anode lead on CRTs when repairing them.

I’m quite familiar with Europeans DIY-audio nuts but… this is clearly an example of truly über DIY-audio nut.

Nice build but seems like an awful lot of wasted board space unless this is the commercial version, in which case I'm wondering why it was posted here.

This is indeed the commercial version, however like all First Watt products the schematics will be fully available, so it seemed appropriate.

I gather Nelson does not put a lot of stock in power cables. That's a pretty craptastic cord.

There are aftermarket C7-2 cords (I think this is the proper term) and I believe that is what that is. Kinda like the cable that might be removable on a cheap VCR or DVD player.

No, he has super nice cables on his gear, usually Kimber from the pics I've seen of his house.

I think what he meant was that this thread is meant to show off your own builds here. Although, yes, it does fall under the "and such" umbrella vaguery.

I hope this enough capacitance... Let's see, CRC with 66,000uF x 2 = 120,000uF per rail, so 240,000uF per monoblock... that's 480,000uF total. Half a Farad anyone?

Also, Sprizer in your Sony DAC, what are those capacitor dampers made out of? Hard foam or softer foam?

You are certifiable... ...but I like it!!!

It's similar to neoprene or some other rubber foam so a bit firm to the touch.

They should... I don't know how the hell I'm going to use the oil caps as the HV side will take up a whole lot of space.

I ended up going with the 100uF Black Gates instead. I'm kinda a less is more after the regulator type of guy.... well, not in the case of the CRC supplies above, that's an exception to the rule.

Less is usually more so I might just use the oil caps on their own and have no electrolytics in the HV supply. I have 4 so I might as well use 'em.

Shhhh... don't tell anybody... The cod wars have to be some of the silliest conflicts ever and I still can't understand why the Brits were sucked into it. How on earth could they ever win when all we had to do was ask the Russians to sell us some warships and the US stepped in a told the Brits to back off.
