wow, your customs must really suck as I got mine yesterday in the mail. I'll save myself and all Americans the embarrassment of not having much clue about geography in general, but you're a lot closer than I am, 'dats for sure.

A package sent from here takes a day to arrive in Denmark so something was up on their end with the.

can anyone recommend a IEC jack that has an integrated switch (no fuse) and isn't a press fit type (i.e. uses screws to secure) and has fast-on tabs? I see a few options, but didn't know if there was something someone really like out there. Bonus points if you've rear mounted it and have the FPE cutout info!

I'm sure there are others, and smaller ones at that but I'd have to break out the digikey and mouser catalogs to find them.

nate:

thanks so much. I was actually looking at the updated version of this part (see crossreference in datasheet), but this is better as the mounting orientation works better for me. nate++

One last question. I want to partially counter sink a #6-32 socket head screw and found some data here:

Socket Cap Screws Reference Section

I'm using FPE, any recommendations on the two diameters? I've never done a countersink like this and my luck of late I'd screw it up. I'm thinking in FPE terms:

cone diameter: 0.226"
drill hole diameter: 0.1380"
sink depth: 1.5mm (3mm panel total)
cone angle: 0

sound reasonable, or should I add in a bit of fudge factor for the socket head diameter?

You should increase the outer diameter at least 0.01". .138" is also a very tight size, with standard 5 mil tolerances your screw might not fit. I would use something between .140 and .144 if you want a tight fit with a #6 screw. If you change that dimension then you need to increase the outer diameter of the counterbore a little more too

You should also try http://www.cam-expert.com/

Sweet. I imagine that could be made much more compact on protoboard.

I would say:

a) shitload of caps
b) shitload of caps too close to the audio circuitry AND the pot

So in general, the power supply components too close to the signal stage

something a bit more "exciting" than that

Looks to me like one of the caps is in backwards...

pars: how do you like the attenuation scale that the TKD 2CP-2511 has? Percy lists:

15°/2dB, 30°/4dB, 45°/6dB, 60°/8dB, 75°/10dB, 90°/12dB, 105°/14dB, 120°/16dB, 135°/18dB, 150°/20dB, 165°/22dB, 180°/24db, 195°/26dB, 210°/28dB, 225°/30dB, 240°/32db, 255°/34dB, 270°/37dB, 285°/42dB, 300°/50dB, 315°/∞

seems a bit strange, but does it feel strange to use?

TKD CP2511: not at all strange. I like it much better than the Alps Blue attenuation scale. It feels like it is a bit slower to come up, at least to half rotation or so.

ya, that's the log versus audio scales I suppose.

I thought log was audio taper? Or did you mean linear vs. audio?
