Those are pretty cute. Doesn't look like they there were a total PITA to separate.

Nice work man! I think you might have a bit of a balanced-dinky-tube obsession though. :/

The EZ81 and 6n1p are bigger than you'd think... but, point taken - it is a FETISH. Now I can actually afford to keep 20 tubes of each type for EACH amp, even balanced... ;-)

Now, to breathe life back into the BH, and look at a (small) KGSS... or somesuch. Well, and the R-10 clone thingys.

How's about DIY, patterned after R-10? Trying W100 and DX-1000 drivers for now (until the D7000 drivers are sourceable), and since the R-10 and CD3k drivers are no more. Trying to show a DIY path to upper end _dynamic_ phones, and not yet gots the plana feva. Using Siberian elm, a close Elm species to Zelkova (R-10 wood, but no longer available that I have found), but Japanese / Chinese Elm may work as well. Were that more folks were doing this stuff.

When are you starting on the balanced Menace? It seems the only logical thing to do.

Well, that IS a rather logical thing to attempt. I DID actually read through your menace thread 'over there' last night, as a matter of fact, and, since I hadn't had any tequila, did not order any parts, which is VERY usually how these projects start.

Liquid courage and a credit card / PayPal is a toxic combination - and, yet, the impetus of much DIY.

Damnit, past edit time - update with some progress on the dynamics... having custom lambskin pads made, and getting the headband contraption reskinned as well... hopefully all done by midweek, so I can fire this up (yes, temporary cable to see whether I like the W100 or DX-1000 drivers better).

Just doing protos so a REAL woodworker can turn them out in quantity... also going to make another proto exactly like the dx-1000 except the elm rather than walnut.
