that's what i've been waiting for, though, i like being uncommitted(no contract) and will have to pay more monthly for less talk time and likely lower quality too.

That can be done, too, but then AT&T won't subsidize it, I don't think.Originally Posted by 909
But yeah, I'm waiting for the 3G. June cannot come fast enough.

is the 3g going to be able to work on the business (don't know the proper way to say it) email network like blackberry?

That's a software issue, not a function of the 3g. As far as I know, Imap already works, what other issues are there? Push? I'll have to look into it -- I had someone else say something to the effect of, "Apple needs to get email working the way Blackberry does", so I do know it's an issue, I just don't know what it is.Originally Posted by 909
EDIT: Just found an article that synopsizes the problem. Looks like the answer is going to be, "no".

thanks. as that's one of the main concerns my wife has with the iphone and likely will be one of mine in the upcoming months.

We have an exchange server in the office and use Outlook. One of the attorneys uses an iphone and is able to send and receive Outlook email. It can't be used in wifi mode, only through Edge, which hasn't been an issue. The new iphone should have or soon have active sync which will allow you to get your contacts, mail, calendar from Outlook. Blackberry's require an extra server, I believe to work with an exchange server.
I've had pretty lousy luck with my iphone lately. Not ATTs fault, but I get zero reception in my house or my office. So I can really only use the phone in the car, which I don't do, because I am firmly against driving and talking at the same time.
I'm either going 3G when it gets here, or just canning the whole thing and getting an ipod touch, I think.
I'm paying $70 a month for basically an ipod and web.
at home AT&T has awesome reception, even all over the basement. at the bar it has spots where it's nothing but some spots are ok. anywhere in Chicago Edge is great but in Florida it sucked all over.
AT&T i guess has good Chicago 3G mapping so i can not wait for the faster and better data but before i turn over for the new phone i will require more storage probably, atleast 32gb so i can have 4,000+ songs and a few movies on me at all times.
im using a Blackjack2 here in SoFlo and 3G is strong as hell here. I had to hack my phone to accept ISC, however in my area its a strong 1mb download...
I was at Tyrion's house last night helping him with his phone/laptop and notice his signal is AWFUL out there. It just swapped back and forth from 3G to E (Edge).
My Blackjack 1 was ROCK SOLID in 3G in my area...even tethered to my laptop it was always able to hold a strong signal.
