    "The Dead Girl" - 9.5/10

Karen Moncrieff's 2006 women's film is a masterpiece. In a series the segments the death of a young woman at the hands of an innocuous serial killer, the woman who discovered her body, the sister who awaited her missing sister as a medical examiner's technician, the wife of the serial murderer, and the mother of the dead girl who never knew her new husband's abuse had driven her daughter from her home. Stellar casting, edgy sexiness throughout, and stark realism forge an unwaivering view of the impact of a murder and it's broader implications.

tokyo drift was awesome. It was also Fast and Furious in name and theme only, wasn't really connected to the others.

Vinn Diesel may not be a good actor, but he's a cool dude. Grew up a D&D geek IIRC.

    "Skills Like This"

about a writer who realizes he's a shitty writer and decides to start robbing places instead. good flick, pretty funny, and had that certain something that seem to make it elevate itself above itself. I don't know how to describe it, it made me feel good to watch even though maybe it was seeking to have a message that didn't come through clearly.

Yes, but they did make a 2 Fast 2 Furious after all. Click here to enlarge

Never knew that about Vin Diesel posty, that's pretty cool. Really the movie's failure's fall upon the writers, who for some reason decided to have a bunch of stupid dialogue. Click here to enlarge

This would actually be a great title, but it seems the F&F franchise takes itself too seriously Click here to enlarge

Watched Australia last night (BluRay). I thought it was really good. It's a bit long and a little slow at times, but it kept my full attention. It had some great scenery and Nicole Kidman is pretty easy on the eyes too.Click here to enlarge

I always appreciate the effort it takes to make a movie authentic looking when set in the early 1900's. (and they did a great job in this respect)
There is even a little vinyl action.

"Ride With the Devil" - 9/10

An early (1999) Ang Lee horse opera/civil war flick about the War Between the States in Missouri told principally from the southern viewpoint. This was one of the nastier regional conflicts in a majorly nasty war. Lee stays true to Daniel Woodrell's novel (except for a couple of diversions which actually develop the novel better for the film), and nobody does Ozark hill folk like Woodrell. These are some rough sorts. A bunch of young wild and largely immature guys on largely guerilla operations of excess and personal vendetta was just what I needed and oh so authentic and period. Nice bunch of firearms used authentically and realistically. Features Jewel in her cine debut, although not enough of her is seen (*sigh*).

    Does 90% of Adventureland count?

Must've been within 15 minutes of the end and the fire alarm goes off. Really? And it'll probably be a week before I have a chance to go again. The fact that they'll comp seeing it (again, mostly) is small consolation.
