He's Just Not That Into You. Didn't like it. Kinda formulaic and not that funny.

Enjoy it![]()
Death at a Funeral. Black Comedy about dysfunctional Brits going to a funeral and hilarious stuff happening there. I really enjoyed it.
What society calls "personality flaws" I call "what if you pretended you were Batman too". - T-Rex
We couldn't decide between the craptastic triptych of Year One, The Proposal, and Away We Go, so I suggested Easy Virtue, and ended up being highly entertained. Contrary to predictions, I actually preferred the lighter aspects of the film over the dark -- especially the first third of the movie. I'm going to have to look up the script, because the dialog (especially the bon mots) was wonderful.

Xfiles 2 - I wish I were Dead
That should have been the title anyway. What a travesty, the way they took advantage of that poor corpse.
an autocrat, racist bastard pushing people around and then acts like a child when pushed back
Rachael Getting Married...possibly the worst movie I have ever seen. So glad the wife picked it.

Finding Nemo. Still a classic.
The Proposal.
Pretty lame plot, and typical Sandra Bullock.
The only thing that made it at all entertaining was the 11 y.o. (or thereabouts) kid sitting next to me that completely cracked up at the sexual overtones.
He even leaned over to inform me that you could see part of Sandra's Nipple in one long shot. Like I hadn't picked up on that already.
And then there was the surrounding scenery of Southeast Alaska. Made me homesick.
I do love me a good revenge flick![]()
Yeah Taken was good.
Man On Fire may be my favorite revenge flick. It harkens back to the Joe Don Baker revenge movies of the 70s.
Knowing.
Holy fuck, that was intense.
Wasn't sure what to expect going in. Definitely not a fan of Nick Cage (to put it mildly), but I am most definitely a Proyas fan. The Crow and Dark City are among my favorite films, so I was hopeful, and Ebert had a very positive review. While I don't always agree with him as a critic, he definitely shares my esteem (or I his) of Dark City, so I wanted to check it out.
I'm still not sure what I think. It was an experience, to be sure. I think I'll need to see it again to really get a feel. Cage definitely does not ruin things, and the premise, execution, performances and effects were all well done.
I wanna see The Proposal again, just for the "wet after shower" scene with Sandra Bullock.![]()
Hellboy 2.
Awesome visual imagination, great atmosphere, and a thoroughly unimpressive story. The acting talent is fantastic but with such a flat script there's not much anyone can do. So basically it's Del Toro up to his old tricks again. I don't mind, I still liked this a lot (Pan's Labyrhinth too) and he can't possibly mess the Hobbit up any more than Peter Jackson (... I hope). He seems to be getting more outlandish trying to outdo himself on the visual imagination front and has been a good thing so far. Or perhaps he's simply more confident and finally able to more fully show his stuff. Either way this one was a big improvement on the original.
I wish I had time to see Transformers this weekend. I'm a huge fan if you can't tell from my avatar.
He who laughs last thinks slowest.
Men of Honor.
What a dreadfully stupid movie. It's meant to be uplifting being based on a true story of courage overcoming prejudice but so many scenes feel fake and overwrought. In fact there are very few scenes that don't feel fake and overwrought. The cast is good but the roles are nothing they haven't done before and done better.
I don't know why I sat through this one. Maybe it was the beer. Either way, avoid (though not the beer obviously).
In flight movies...
Good Will Hunting - fantastic. Shows no real signs of age, and that one scene where he finally gets through to Will and Will opens up was so emotional.
Valkyrie - forgettable. Why did I even watch this when I could have watched Gran Torino.![]()
Don't worry, Gran Turino wasn't very good either. Alright, it was better than Valkyrie, but that's only becaused Valkyrie SUCKED BAWLZ.
