GI Joe. Enjoyed it much more than I expected. It was actually a pretty decent movie. Lots of action.

Agreed on GI Joe. Plus, you know, Sienna Miller and her cleavage. Plus Rachel Nichols. Whose smirk reminds me of Michelle Trachtenberg's for some reason.
I thought there were enough nice touches --Spoilerlike the GPS thing (which I made into a spoiler because it's towards the end, and it's just a small thing)-- that made it worthwhile, and there were fewer detriments than Transformers that I think it was a hell of a lot better than Transformers. But it wasn't without its detriments -- some of the CGI was seriously sketchy, and "get me the French ambassador!" -- yeah, because why? That's just a local call, and the President of France is long distance? Or are we just observing protocol? Anyway, those were mostly minor, the movie itself was good.

A Mighty Heart, which is the story of Marianne Pearl, the wife of the Wall Street Journal guy who got kidnapped and beheaded in Pakistan. Angelina Jolie plays Mrs Pearl.
Why on earth would I find that entertaining, you ask? Well, I wouldn't. It came from Bonnie's Downers and Bum-Out Documentary phase with the Netflix list. It sat on our shelf for six weeks before I finally watched it.
Anyhow, I thought it was pretty realistic. I didn't particularly care for the pseudo-documentary shooting and editing style. That always bugs me in theatrical films. And especially with this subject matter. "Hey, we're making a movie about journalists. We'll make it look like a documentary. Yeah, it'll be, like, so appropriate." All considered though, a good story, if a bit too real.
And the nightmare afterward was pretty vivid.

Seriously, some of the CGI was pretty shotty.SpoilerLike when the Joe's first stepped foot on snow, wow... They couldn't have done a better CGI job for that?
Both women were beautiful. =] Always makes a movie more enjoyable.
I think what I enjoyed a lot were the transition scenes.
SpoilerLike when they went from the plane and transitioned into the sub (whatever was in the water). I thought that transition was awesome.

I really want to see Moon. Apparently David Bowie's son is a pretty damn good director.

Wife got this and enjoyed it. My own interest was not entirely historical.

I love you. I am the milkman of human kindness. I will leave an extra pint.
Yeah, but upon second viewing, it really was complete.
SpoilerThe final scene of George Clooney's character needed to be the one where he was freaking out and running away;
it finished the converse of the way it started, with the great pull-back from the office;
the whole point was that when you don't get the whole story, it doesn't make sense, which is a recurring theme with them;
&c.

Good point. You know what, by some social quirk, I did see "Burn After Reading" twice. While I'm not even saying it's in the same league with "The Big Labowski", it was that way to an extent, too. I liked "Labowski" a lot on first viewing. Bonnie was unimpressed. Second time around, we both laughed until we about wet ourselves.

The Hurt Locker - This movie was an intense experience. Made me even more in awe of the risks people in the armed forces take every day.
In the mid to late-50's, my Dad's mission in case of war was to fly his B-29 into the USSR. Then he was to drop his nuclear weapon, turn around and fly until he ran out of fuel. Then he was to ditch or bail out and wait for help to arrive. Of course, he didn't have enough fuel to get back out of the USSR so the odds of help actually arriving were pretty much zero.
Fortunately he never had to fly this mission. He really earned his retirement pay and it pisses me off every time Congress raises their pay and reduces military benefits. These two things are some of the few things that gets bipartisan support.![]()
