For some reason I like that cover better than the alternative:

Rhapsody. Isobel Campbell used to be in Belle & Sebastian and Mark Lanegan has been in a bunch of bands, and I saw that the new release. I tend to like some alt/indie country stuff and the Deer Tick seemed interesting.

Goldfrapp - Felt Mountain
I like Goldfrapp's more "experimental" records more than her dance-y ones, and this is probably my favorite in her catalog.
Ryan Adams & The Cardinals - Cardinology
This might be my favorite Ryan Adams & The Cardinals record in their collaborations so far.
Depeche Mode -- Exciter

That's an interesting read. I was aware of some but not all of that. As often happens to me though it sounds like I missed out on the first press edition since the case on mine has conventional packaging. I've been hoping she'd do another solo album along those lines, but no luck so far.
Currently listening to her previous album:
Shiina Ringo - Shouso Strip
Oh, and of the Goldfrapp albums I prefer Felt Mountain too. I still like Black Cherry and Supernature quite a lot. Seventh Tree didn't really do it for me, but I should probably listen to it again a few times before making any rash comments.

I am SO glad I'm not the only one seeing the greatness of this record. A couple of my non-HC music buddies aren't getting it.

Righteous is what this album is. I've never liked guitar jazz until now.

I fell off the Ryan Adams wagon after Heartbreaker, but I was brought back slowly by The Cardinals. IMO, Cardinology is probably the most consistent, most polished word Ryan Adams and the band have done. It is fairly uniform in its quality, so the highs and lows are not as pointed as their earlier stuff.
I just think with this record, Ryan Adams and the band have found their niche and learned to settle in it nicely. And god knows how long (and how many inconsistent albums) that Ryan Adams took to finally find his own groove!
I think it has an immediacy about it that I find appealing. I think I read that many of the songs were performed in one or two takes, and that would make sense. Not that the songs lack because of it, they seem quite perfect, actually. I really have no complaints. I'm not very familiar with the back catalog, but just need to spend more time with it. Cardinology was an instant "Fuck yeah" moment for me. I still haven't heard anything from Adams that I like better.

I'll give you Gold, Demolition, and Love is Hell as inconsistent, but Cold Roses and Jacksonville City Nights are pure win all day. Especially JCN. God I could spin JCN on vinyl all day, drive around in my car and listen to it all day, I just can't ever get sick of any of it. I'm also a huge Easy Tiger fan, but I can admit it was a bit all over the place (but "The Sun Also Sets" is one of the best tracks RA has ever laid down, and possibly his strongest vocal performance).
I agree they have found their niche. The album title is apt, since for me its all about how well the band has wrapped themselves around Ryan. Just beautiful, easy, and mature music.
