So here's a neat little "feature". I was using the Public Radio app and listening to WAMU... I then plugged in the iPod touch into my laptop for power and of course this initiated a sync. I figure the app would close, the sync would happen and when it was done, I'd fire up the app again to listen.
Well, the sync happened and the public radio app was still running and streaming audio through the sync. So I guess that's possible. Kinda cool.
This is a one-trick pony, but nice if you like that particular trick. The streams are AAC+ and sound pretty good.

the Kindle app is nice. took me a little while to get used to having to swipe the page turns (i have taught myself to tap and then just barely swipe, which isn't much different from how i turned pages in Stanza), and i wish i could turn off right justification (i don't have the big problem with right justification that some do, though), but otherwise i like it an awful lot. gonna have to get a Kindle, now. some people have bitched about not being able to browse books from the app, but i've been browsing from my iMac, usually when doing something else, and when i find a book i'm interested in i send the preview to my iPhone. if i like the preview, i can buy the book directly from the app. i bought Drood that way. fantastic book, too, i stayed up until almost 3 AM this morning reading it.
must buy Kindle! Kindle Kindle Kindle! i imagine that the seamless combo of iPhone and Kindle is gonna kick.

Only 784 pages this time? Simmons is slacking. He should have a prolix-off with Neal Stephenson.

Owning both a Kindle and an iPod touch, I can say the combo is nice. Now the Kindle stays home by the bedside and the touch comes to work... then I sync the Kindle and it finds the last place I left off on the touch. Very nice and no issues so far.
next paycheck can't come fast enough (hopefully nothing comes up, so i can freaking buy one).

If you like Inquisitor on your desktop, you may also like the iPhone version. Yay free.

Yes, Pandora's Star and Judas Unchained - just finished the series last week.
I have used eReader for years, and it is better on iPhone than Kindle app so far. Kindle App needs to allow inverting the text and background, for black with white letters; and should allow for other background and text colors. I read a bit in bed late at night, and will usually do black background with yellow or white letters so the backlighting doesn't bother my wife or hurt my visual acclimation to the dark.
Also, if I have one device and open a book to read, it will still try to connect online and sync my page-mark with other kindle devices on my account - so when I was in an area of poor cell service the "checking for last page read screen" blocked parts of the top and bottom of the screen so I can't start reading right away but must wait until it gives up or succeeds.

I wish I knew if a damn iPhone was coming out in the next few months. Although I am paying for a plan on Verizon that is way overpriced now that my wife and daughter moved on to AT&T.![]()
