s_r Posted June 30, 2015 Report Share Posted June 30, 2015 Is there much benefit in going with 680uF caps over 470uF ones in the PSU? The kemet 680uF ones are too tall to fit in a 2U case. They also list building custom R-cores to order. A R-100 core size would be a physically perfect fit for a Carbon. Could add electrostatic shield,.... whatever we want.There are order sheets on that site that take in all the technical specs. desired and email to them for a quote. I'm not the one to be spec'ing the transformer, maybe someone with more experience could.Possibly a GB could be arranged.I frequently travel to Shenzhen China for business (I'm there right now), and could take a day trip to their office/factory in Foshon to check them out if needed. Those boxes aren't all that great so I won't be touching them again. I'll build one mini Carbon into the KGSSHV mini chassis just to test it but after that it will be all custom. I'm just thinking out loud...a "reverse hybrid" amplifier just sounds pretty cool if one is willing to appropriate the voltage necessary for the tube CCS...maybe even a hybrid mu/beta follower oh man T2 CCS seems pretty manageable if you only need to drop in those 8(?) 3675s.
