i'm on a roll... the kgsshv

a lot of people don't lift the resistors slightly off the boards, and cause trouble.

i can certainly put the ground plane back in if people want it, but the

design is very tight and short, so probably no reason to.

here is what the ground plane would look like with 30th clearance,

there is no way to do it on the bottom.

takes 5 seconds to put it back on the board if people want it.

no way to get to the ground pin on the ground plane for the hv power supply connector

now to find some r-core transformers.

Kevin, have you seen this company: http://jamestransformer.com/en/transformer/index.html

They have built a pretty good reputation with their power and output EI-core transformers for DIY tube amps. They also list building custom R-cores to order. A R-100 core size would be a physically perfect fit for a Carbon. Could add electrostatic shield,.... whatever we want.

There are order sheets on that site that take in all the technical specs. desired and email to them for a quote. I'm not the one to be spec'ing the transformer, maybe someone with more experience could.

Possibly a GB could be arranged.

I frequently travel to Shenzhen China for business (I'm there right now), and could take a day trip to their office/factory in Foshon to check them out if needed.

I found this chassis from taobao http://tw.taobao.com/item/7504213469.htm?spm=a1z3o.7406521.101.441.OPhvr3&abtest=_AB-LR492-LR501-LR517-PR492-PR501-PV517_1271

e9uJPhc.jpg

Outside 320(W)*120(H)*311(D)mm

Inside 220*113*300mm

Heatsink 300*50*115

Should be nice to combine with KGSSHV-Carbon also big trafos.

Another narrow version (260 wide/160 inside) http://tw.taobao.com/item/7504376983.htm?spm=a1z3o.7406521.101.22.IX06iP&abtest=_AB-LR492-LR501-LR517-PR492-PR501-PV517_1271

What's spec of transformers should make for KGSSHV-Carbon?

I wonder if Birgir has any plans building KGSSHV Carbon's using the type of chassis in the photo. IMO it looks very nice.

i have finally come up with a better servo,

joamat and kerry had some really good ideas, but referencing

the minus rail causes issues, and then there is the overhead

voltage of the system.

so here is something that i think is better because the

reference is ground.

http://gilmore.chem.northwestern.edu/newservo.pdf

the circlotron needs a bigger chassis than that.

and its probably too big for the carbon, but sure why not.

going to look into transformers very soon.

Nice :) I like the idea of decoupling.

Those boxes aren't all that great so I won't be touching them again.  I'll build one mini Carbon into the KGSSHV mini chassis just to test it but after that it will be all custom.

isn't the carbon already technically a SiC BHSE, 10m90s and everything?

I'm just thinking out loud...a "reverse hybrid" amplifier just sounds pretty cool if one is willing to appropriate the voltage necessary for the tube CCS...maybe even a hybrid mu/beta follower oh man

T2 CCS seems pretty manageable if you only need to drop in those 8(?) 3675s. Easy enough to P2P, but I guess infinitely more of a pain in the ass compared to the boards as they are now.
