This is the first time I've been watching a TV series in real time, waiting for the next episode, since Heroes season 1 and I fucking HATE having to wait. After this I'm going to stick with my binge and purge technique. I'm saving BSG for that. Lost has clearly got some firm internal direction now because it really was wobbly, if not bad for a while, now this season is just as tight a the first one was while working in the larger world that the programme deals with. The time travel stuff is great and time travel is usually a plot device that can royally fuck up stuff for a TV series.

I read some speculation that Ben was out to kill Penny during the last episode, but failed to the task. It would make sense considering the poor physical state he was in during the plane trip. I agree it's a great season so far, there seems to be a solid direction. Can't wait to know if Desmond made it on the plane or not, he's by far my favorite character on the show.

I'm very happy that I at least a seed of this figured out after watching the last few episodes. I'm not a detail freak and haven't seen any episode more than once so it was harder to tie together the details, but I was thinking along these same lines....

especially the inevitable fate part, and multiple "resets" trying to avoid it

So yeah it doesn't all work but I think that this theory finally makes some real sense of Lost.

Shit yeah, I'm pumped. I still haven't seen the finale of the previous season, because it was shown while I was transiting to Canada and I could never be bothered chasing it up on channel BT, but it is on Space tonight.

That's what I thought too. These two episodes were certainly a mindfuck as are all Lost season premieres.
