Incredible game, and I sure am happy for the Royals. KC has waited a long, long time. They're my favorite team still in the mix, although I don't give them good odds against the Angels.

Well the Tokyo Olympics will start this Friday and even though Lance is no longer fencing I thought I might share a piece with you explaining some of the basics of the sport should you consider watching the USA fencers in action. The video was shot at Lance's former fencing studio; the fencer Ysaora trained with and fenced Lance multiple times and Lance would occasionally beat her. At the 5 minute mark you will see our friend and Lance's coach Maurizio who Lance will be visiting in Italy next Month. Ysaora is France's number one foil fencer and projected to medal. Mixed emotions here I gotta say...

Cavendish screwed it up in the last 250 meters because he was too anxious and now it seems likely that he will be out of the race altogether. Sad finish for the home crowd but Kittel is the real deal and Sagan doesn't have the same level of power but is still crafty and quite fast.

I hate Cuntador but they say he is in great shape and will at least challenge Froome more than last year. It would be nice to have some others step up and create some drama. I will miss Quintana Rojas. I'm amazed that he won the Giro, and apparently he has his sites set on the Vuelta this summer. I hope he comes back to the TDF next year.

So apparently hockey interest has waned quite a bit here, but wanted to start a thread for the playoffs, round 2 and on.

Liking the Bruins, they were so much fun to watch this year and just got out of the first round. Toronto just matched up very well with them, and I'm hoping the regular season match-up with the Lightning carries into this series.

Just finished watching the Caps & Pens game, glad Caps won this. Series will be great to watch, some great skill, physical play, and genuine dislike going on here. As a Bruins fan, hoping the Bruins get to the next round, I want to see this series go 7 games and get them all tired out

Happy also to see SJS tie up the series with Vegas, though I think Vegas will go on to win the series....

And WPG and Nashville series should be exciting, two talented, fast, and strong teams.....

There are two variants of Rugby - Union and League. The rules are different. League has more in common with American football, but only the 6 plays element - after which the ball goes to the opposing team. That is not the case in Union, where you retain possession of the ball until you lose it to the opposing team through interception, being turned over in a tackle, a scrum, a penalty or a lineout. There is a ten minute sin-bin for dangerous play, or being sent off entirely for the duration of the game.

It is a big sport in the UK and Europe (mainly France and Italy), and worldwide. This year the Rugby World Cup is held in the UK http://hospitality.rugbyworldcup.com/hospitality_matches.aspxand should be brutal.

Reason for posting this is yesterday was the culmination of the 6 nations championship. England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, France and Italy. It runs in the early spring. The three final matches were yesterday, and many records were broken.

Started with Italy/Wales. At half time the score was a lacklustre 13 points to14. Yawn. But then Wales went on a rampage of epic proportions in the second half and the final score line was 20 points to 61. That monster score meant that in order to win the tournament, in the next match Ireland had to beat Scotland by at least 27 points and England had to beat France by at least 23 points - a really tough challenge. However another epic battle by Ireland saw them demolish Scotland by 40 points to 10. That raised the bar for England, who now had to beat France by at least 27 points. In a phenomenal match, England beat France by 55 points to 35 points - a margin of 20, and falling short by one converted try (7 points) of taking the champoinship, which went to Ireland.

This is a day of Rugby which will go down in history. It is the first time in the final three matches that the total number of points scored has been as high as 221, by a large margin. It is the first time ever that a team has scored over 30 points (France) - and then lost. Since the competition (initially the five nations, minus Italy) started in 1910.
