  1. Past hour
  2. My boards came in today. Thank you so much for doing another stellar GB!
  3. It's around here somewhere, I believe. The dent in the lower portion of the face plate was kindof getting to me... Probably happened during shipping here back in the day. So I ended up doing just a few things and it all locked in. I connected input grounds on the boards together, as well as the output grounds. This was weird to do since the left and right grounds were already connected at the Alps. Finally, I connected the ground from the output jack to the ground plane screw on the closest amp board. DEAD QUIET. Finally! Hey, many thanks to you Nate, Doug, Craig, and Pars for all the ideas. I'm glad to have this one back in the arsenal! Will post some pics now that it's done. Still looking for a 3mm green LED for the new front panel, though. (I think it was a 3mm) I have no idea why that item is so hard to find these days.

  10. Ray Chen: Tartini Devil's Trill Sonata arr. Kreisler (Ray has a 2-hour interview with Alice Sara Ott that I haven't watched yet) Bonus:
  11. Greg Spawton (Big Big Train, prog) posted the setlist they were going to play this tour: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3HVmaI11zjosk5E2umpdf9?si=Mjxlq7VzRO-XlJdGaB-iZQ So I did my best to recreate it on Tidal, and now I'm listening to it: https://tidal.com/browse/playlist/ea3057b4-a28d-4ec8-9636-a45878f1ac9e

Nice, some highlights I'm seeing from skimming through the list include OneShot, Night in the Woods, Quadrilateral Cowboy, Minit, Cook, Serve, Delicious! 2!!, Heavy Bullets, Oxenfree, A Short Hike, Overland. There's also some intriguingly titled games like HOT GAY BRO DRAGONS.
  13. Speaking of super fun series, one of the pluses of HBO becoming HBOMax is the Warner/TBS tie in, so Search Party seasons one and two are widely available before season three hits in a few weeks (season four already deep in production). Been drinking in season two around work this week.
  14. 742 (ya rly) games for $5: https://itch.io/b/520/bundle-for-racial-justice-and-equality
  15. JBL cabinets make me chuckle.
  16. All GB packages have been shipped as of today except for two. One of the two is pending the participant's response to my shipping payment request. Most of you have PayPal'ed me the shipping cost. Thanks! For those who have not yet PayPal'ed me the shipping cost please check your PM or PM me. I have been keeping track but there were 50 packages so may have missed a few. Shipping cost for US address is a flat rate of $8.4 US. For non-US address it depends on the location and weight and I added $1 US for the bubble envelop used. This GB is now officially closed. Happy building!
  17. I wonder if it's possible to jumper/bypass the resistors on the output - so you can use the headphone out direct from the transformers
  18. It's a shame they use a wall wart. I suppose that goes with the territory when something is small/cheap. However, Kenton have always been a bit of a go-to for weird little MIDI problem solvers, saving many headaches.
  19. Thanks for the pointers. I especially appreciate the comments regarding bombproofness. I actually only have a couple USB-MIDI, most of my devices are from the 90’s.
  20. I discovered them precisely by Gogo Penguin ... Gondwana Record are signing very interesting artists
  21. I just knew that of anywhere on Her Majesty's Interpipes, here would be where people were alert to the sight of a popped capacitor 😇 Also, thanks, having a lot of fun with my little modular, even if I'm barely scratching the surface of some of the more complex modules. Regarding your MIDI question, if you just want to turn a device with USB MIDI into old-style DIN MIDI, this is one of the more straightforward and bombproof solutions: https://kentonuk.com/product/midi-usb-host-mkii/ Kenton have been making MIDI problem solvers for years (their MIDI to CV converters are justly famous for their reliability). It ain't fancy-looking, but it will get the job done. That said, I would hate to make assumptions- if you want something more fancy that can tie ALL THE THINGS together, these are very well-regarded: https://www.bome.com/products/bomebox If you need to connect multiple USB-MIDI clients to the Bomebox, I believe that an MTT-compliant powered USB hub will work nicely. (I have one of these- https://www.expert-sleepers.co.uk/fh2.html - but it's probably overkill for anyone who doesn't already have a rack to bolt it into. Lovely, if cryptic, bit of kit.)
  22. Just finished Maniac & loved it! So quirky, and so many layers. Cathartic & ultimately satisfying, imo. One of my favorite tv series ever now.
  23. Rafiq Bhatia - Standards Vol.1 It's an EP released this year on Bandcamp. Cecile McLorin contributes to the second tune.
  24. Rick & Morty, 4th season.
  25. "Better" is a relative term, each has its advantages and disadvantages. There are several SR007Mk1 variations (70xxx with the carbon box, 71xxx, SZ1) and it is probably very hard to find a 'golden' sample now, because why would anyone sell such a headphone, unless he is completely unaware of the differences and happen to accidentally own such a pair. And without comparing two SR007 headphones side-by-side(maybe new pads on both and a properly seating headband, since both may also affect the sound), it may be difficult to evaluate it. So for practical purposes, the Mk2.9 should be a better, safer option.
