  1. Spent the weekend building a deck with my dad. It was a great way to spend a few days. And we're really excited to enjoy it the rest of the summer.

  2. Found a bit over 3 bitcoins I forgot about. Shoot dang. Kind of like finding +$800 in your jeans pocket you didn't know about.

  3. Just dropped the kids off for a week with Eleanor's mother. They'll be going to soccer camp and I'll be full-on batching it, since Eleanor is working in Alberta this week. Longest time flying solo in ages. See you in the drunk thread. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk

  4. Been playing that game for almost 15 years. I look at it as brain-training. We just returned from IU. We dropped Peter off at soccer camp on Wednesday and picked him up today. Seems to have gone better this year compared to last most likely because he is now more mature than me.

  5. Not downcast. Have realized it's just the start of a great new lifelong brain-training game, called: "Fuck, where did I leave my glasses?"

  6. Back when Monster cable was first selling their cables with 3 sizes of wire (fat for the bass and thin for the treble), Frank van Alstine offered to wire the thin ones to an AC plug and plug it in while a Monster salesperson held on to one wire in each hand. For some unfathomable reason, the salesperson declined.

  10. Yup, I was eyeing his amp too but decided against it at the end. Geoff's builds are pretty awesome.

  12. Thanks! Just wanted to note that on the V5 board there are 2 unmarked caps, one in the lower left corner by the LV terminal block connections and another to the right of the balance trimpot and 1K resistor.

  16. Good to hear Jim. Alec is doing a two-week Chelsea residential for 10 to 18 year-olds next month and, being 10, I'm thinking he's going to learn quite a lot on and off the field.

  17. I have now! Wow. Also impressive looking! -- After meets I tend to browse the forums and see whether my subjective impressions matched up with the crowd. Browsing Tyll's site, I came across this video of Frank Cooter talking about the amp at a Southern California meet. Very cool and worth a watch. Boy are we ever lucky to have guys like Frank Cooter in our hobby.

  18. Listened to that yesterday on Tidal, and had a good first impression! Anne's colleague takes her son to the same private school in Chicago as Jeff Tweedy's younger son. Says he's a really nice guy, very down to earth. I keep asking Anne when they are going to set up a small private solo acoustic concert for us, which Jeff does for charity, on occasion. Hasn't happened yet ...

  19. I had a chance to listen to a couple of Yggy based rigs at the SF Bay Area head-fi meet today and I was pretty darn impressed. I ordered one. It should make a nice compliment to the Oppo. -- I had a chance to hear the new Eddie Current Studio amp running off a Yggy. Holy fuck, that thing sounds amazing. Hands down the most impressive (dynamic) amp of the meet. Good thing its so goddamn expensive or I'd be tempted. I almost walked out of there with a Zana Deux amp to run my HD 600s but then I remembered I had 009s at home Most impressive electrostat amp was Frank Cooter's latest masterpiece. It was easily the most beautiful DIY amp I've ever seen.
