  1. Sure thing. My cable management isn't as beautiful as some of the masters here, but a slight allergy to cable mess does help.

  3. Great choice for going with John. His builds are unique and always first class. Gotta love his custom chassis!

  4. I for one am glad to see that the popularity of a President that hasn't been given much of a chance to succeed, is ending on a very high note. I'm also very happy to see his very large numbers of commutations of low level, no violent criminals, who were IMO unjustly sentenced to ridiculous terms. I'll be sad to see him leave office, as I will the most elegant, benevolent First Lady of my lifetime. Happy Birthday Sir!

  5. I took my Raleigh RRA (irreplaceable) back to Iowa a couple of years ago on my Bones 2 at 80+ mph (300 miles each way). No problems, other than you have to tighten up the straps after a few miles. Sure a hitch rack is probably better, if you get the hitch mount installed properly, etc.

  6. I meant their price totals, not the total number of boards.

  7. 3 mm less depth and two extra holes, apart from that none. Kevin released a V6 with ground plane, which the previous Carbons didn't have.

  8. Unholy carp, it's so purple! And what the hell does a non-golden-eared audiophile equipment reviewer need with 3 tonearms on the same turntable for, anyway?

  9. Although I have a Dynalo mk1 that I got from Birgir which I'm very happy with, rather than get a KGSSHV carbon from him, it will be johnwmclean that'll be building one for me, or part building. Now the reason for that is because after several PM's with John, he suggested I asked my local metal engineer to do the faceplate/enclosure, and in doing that I could have the size and look however I liked best. So after giving it some thought I've gone for the size to be 17"Wx 7"H x 14"D, all approx, but the thing I like the most is the idea I had on how the faceplate will look. ( to my liking that is ) Regarding the faceplate, I was going to have titanium used, but after advice on how difficult it is to work with, I'm going with aluminium, although the volume knob will still probably be titanium. i've yet to ask the engineer, so hopefully he'll do what I'm seeking. There is another thing I'd be after, which is no screws showing anywhere other than the top panel, and even there they'll be countersunk. ? P.S. The only downside with this build, is I won't have the spare money to have it done for sometime, but there's no harm in finding out from my local engineer if he'll do what I'll be after. ?

  11. I personally wouldn't worry about either thing, although I freely admit to not worrying about things generally. If you regularly need to do a hard reset on your watch, I'd discuss it with apple. I wouldn't worry about twist ties at all, but if I were worried about them, I'd remove them, and then stop worrying.

  12. Partly. From memory, the Dynalo runs app. 300mA at +/- 15-20V, i.e. an idle dissipation of around 10-12W per channel. This is not much by class A standards (a 20W/ch speaker amp like the Pass F5 or similar dissipates from 60W/channel and up). Distributing the heat across many transistors means the Dynalo can use smaller output transistors - the MPSW/PZTA-ones are only rated for 1W dissipation each. //UFN

  13. http://www.mouser.com/ProjectManager/ProjectDetail.aspx?AccessID=577DCA0C77 This is GG BOM I made for one board. Please check. Please note: Need 1 pair of 2sk170 or LSK389, which is NOT included in BOM. grid resistor changed from 470R to 10K. I asked Kevin he replied there shouldn't be difference and higher value would be safer when the tubes fail. (T2 use 22K) servo op changed from op27 to TL081 simply because latter is cheaper. mounting kit, IC socket, pins, tube socket NOT included. Zener changed to 18V.

  16. Added a second table (VPI scout 1.1) and a mono cartridge (ortofon quintet mono) I'm running it through my back up phonostage until I can pick up another BAT phono used. WOW, listening to a japenese blue note of Lee Morgan "Candy". Soundstage depth is incredible. There is a sharpness/cleaness to the record I have never heard. This is one of the better investments involving listening to records I've made. Now to clear a separate shelf for monos only.
