  1. Well It happened yesterday but @Sherwood sent me the pictures today. We organised a small Istanbul Head-Case meeting with Tyler Abi. at his house. It was increadibly fun. Here are pictures: The case filled with my digital section (MHDT Lab Atlantis, Gustard U12) and some interconnects. And HD 800 S... And Whole table: Me (sorry for the stupid poses, I cannot do otherwise) and Tyler Abi: Thank you Tyler Abi again and again for your hospitality. I had a great time. And ofc, @dsavitsk, The L-2 amplifier sounds great sir.

  7. Got my fingers crossed for those living downriver of the Oroville Dam out here in California. 200,000 people had to be evacuated over the weekend because the dam is in danger of failing. To quote Han Solo, "Hear me baby, hold together!"

  8. Deciding how much chocolate scone to have. Settled on a very un-head-case half Due to recovering from the 'flu and not really eating much. On the plus side, when I went to the doctors I was down six pounds from my previous pre New York / Bar Bacon weigh in. So There's that. The half was improved by warming it to slightly melt the chocolate, and, *whisper it* dunking it.

  14. I know. I think there is a very good chance I can make it, though it's difficult to say for 100%, given how far out it is.

  18. Okay thanks anyway. The PCM1702 definitely does not support DSD The DA500 has got that typical R2R smooth sound but there's some weird high frequency noise going on that's messing with the sound of the fundamental frequencies. Might be some sort of sideband going on. I'm wondering if it might be from jitter (in the flesh!).. don't think it's from the ALPHA processor because I've heard other Denon products with it and they didn't have this high frequency noise.

  20. The Davies sisters have quite a few mashups from pop songs that really work well Oh, and also, Fitzsimmons's cover of wonderwall works for me as well, the first quarter of the song starts more like a joke, but when he gets into the song, he nails it. I don't know if anyone here is familiar with his stuff, but he has good original material.

  23. No need to spend that much, you have much much cheaper alternatives like this. They're not the ultimate optical quality you need to perform an estapedotomy, but they offer great depth of field, little chromatic aberration and sharper image than any magnifying glasses. If you want much better quality, they've got this Leica model (we have one of those at our clinics) which I'm sure is not that expensive compared to 35 or 25K bucks. On the cheap side of things, yet with very good quality (we have one of these too) the Optomic is rather decent, I would operate an ear with it, so probably I could do a few things else. You'd need to ask them how to mount a video camera on it though.
