  1. Every now and then I receive emails where people want free review samples or some stupid shit like that. Now then this gem showed up today: I just like the blatant offer to offer promotion and clearly a glowing review for a measly 45% discount... My reply is below... Kevin told me not to be too harsh... I think it went ok.

  6. Here's something that has been cooking for a while... what happens when you take some heavily tweaked SR-X Mk3 normal bias drivers, an old SR-303 cable, some earpads from Belarus and a cheap Beyer clone from China? Something that is actually pretty decent... Now the drivers are actually Pro bias if that wasn't clear but this one fun sounding set of headphones. Off the Carbon CC it has that lovely tuneful bass the SR-X Mk3 Pro has but this one has far more body to it. The voices are sublime and have that SR-X quality to them without the over damped nature of the originals. The highs a tad too lively but that will be tweaked in version 2.0. Over all...I'm a happy bunny for spending next to nothing one these... It's fun to play with this stuff and see what comes of it.

  16. So that is where I got that from. I use, "I'm very happy for you" in lieu of...whatever it was she was obviously thinking of saying.

  17. Well, I work at an audio company and often I too get approached by people wanting to review our stuff. Usually I do some background checks so I can estimate the impact of a review, but seeing "Not to brag too much but I think I have a gifted writing style and able to transmit what I hear into a well written review" would tick me off instantly. Dude has like 5 reviews at HF and only one is what I'd consider popular.

  20. Got Julie an LG B6. Saw the samsung ks8000 at best buy next to the b6 and it seemed super harsh even though it was on sale for 950. Those who also got the b6, did you have a film on top of the screen that you had to peel off? Tv we got had the yellow energy sticker on it. Just wondering why on earth they would stick that directly to the panel but I don't see a protective film. Also don't want to damage the screen from heat if there is indeed a film. Thoughts?

  38. anything that forces the bias voltage above 600v is going to damage the headhpones. So a fet that is shorted Drain to Source, or a tube that is shorted plate to cathode. or massive amounts of negative dc on the input.
