  2. After a few weeks burn-in period of this little beast, I found it's very relaxing to listen to. I can hear more juices coming out and the STAX 009 just doesn't have that analytical sounding cliché to my ears. It also enhances the soundstage and life-like of Focal Utopia makes it way more enjoyable to hear. This is a push-pull design tube Headphone Amplifier/Preamplifier attempting to achieve the true high-performance of headphones from Dynamic, Planar Magnetic to Electrostatic models. I've gotten a few PM's asking about the schematics and stuff so I decided to open a thread to discuss more here. a few interesting measurements of the amp at R = 6Ω DT-HWT Headphone Amplifier/Preamplifier schematic: DT-HWT Power Supply schematic: ===================== Inputs – it has two sets of RCA inputs. Output – it has different outputs, provided on a number of different connectors. On the amp front is a TRS ¼” unbalanced jack, and balanced headphone outputs on a single 4-pin XLR and a pro bias 5-pin Stax headphone jack. On the amp rear, there are two sets of 3-pin XLR and RCA preamp outputs. Both sets can be used at the same time if desired – for example, you could feed a power amplifier from the XLR connectors, and a subwoofer amp from the RCA connectors. The bias voltage settings on the separate power supply unit are used only with electrostatic ear speakers (> 100K Ω impedance). You can select whichever bias level sounds better to your STAX/HE90 models from 230-500-580 up to 620 V DC bias. Tube complement for the amp unit is: matched pair of EF86/E80F/6D8 & matched pair of 12AU7/5814A/E80CC/E82CC & matched quad of EL95/6AQ5 Tube complement for the power supply unit is: matched pair of KT66/KT77/KT88/6550/6L6/EL34/350B/350A & one 6080/5998/6AS7/6H13C/2399 Look forward to those next iterations/variants from you guys soon... For the meantime, I keep on rolling 11 tubes to find the best combination that suits best for different music genres

  8. It was good. The BBQ sauce was mostly sweet i did not get much DL, but I have only had DL a couple of times so I might not be an authority. It was a nice burger place and only about 10 minutes from the house. I have been meaning to go there since you first mentioned it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  10. It dawned on me while I was trouble shooting my GRHV to put a reminder here. The 3W 5.1 R current limiter on the GRHV board is good for 120mA per rail which is a bit low for the Megatron and not enough for the Blue Hawaii 's negative rail. May need to go to 3R or lower.

  11. It only sees a few volts, but for safety sake you might try a higher value that could cover the voltage from ground to the negative rail. Can't wait to see how this performs EDIT: I'm noticing that the gaps between the ground plane and traces are very narrow (not sure if I'm seeing this right). If so, I'd recommend about .035".

  12. Pots have arrived! For the US I am sending a bulk package to a family member and then reshipping. This should be cheaper then sending directly to each person from France. Everyone in EU/Asia will get it directly from me. Unlike the Song Heui pots I got my tax bill immeadiately, so no surprises this time. I'll update the shipping + fees section soon when I get it all figured out.

  16. Yes still like it, its different, darker but fun last week > Megatron, BH and it there may be some tweaks to the circuit that could be found but not if no one builds it Please try it before building it a home in a multi thousand dollar enclosure

  17. Took almost two hours and an orbital buffer to remove cone residue from the rocker panels (or at least the visible parts) but my car is looking pretty good and not battle worn. Of course I'll probably fuck it up in 2 weeks at the next round but at least the baseline will be better. Washed the other cars too. Love the relatively cheap Meguiar's stuff gives such a nice shine for basically no work and their scratch stuff is great.

  18. Gary, if your buddy likes Jameson them it would be cool to get him a really pricey single bottle like the great suggestion from Bryan, or else a few bottles of Irish ranging from $50 to $100 a bottle so he could try more of them. Redbreast 12 at $50 Redbreast 12 cask strength at $70 Green Spot at $70 Yellow Spot at $100 There's lots of other options but maybe that is a start. Mike Baker can certainly point you to the right shop...

  19. My preference is whatever whiskey is in my hand at that time. Single Malt would be Lagavulin or Springbank/Longrow. But your average person will likely not enjoy either.

  20. Jameson = Irish whiskey, not scotch. If you want to stick with Irish, Redbreast 21 year is absolutely fantastic and right at $300. If single malt, Macallan almost always does the trick. Rare Cask or 18 year would probably suffice in your price range.

  22. Before this past Spring Break I hadn't been on a bicycle since fall of 2014, right before the big car accident. With my lung disease I'd go through a C-tank of oxygen within 15 miles of riding my Kona Nunu mtn bike on fairly flat ground with slight hills. Regardless, even with oxygen there was no hope of doing any riding in my hilly neighborhood at 6600 feet elevation, and especially no chance of making the 800 foot climb from the shopping center at the bottom of Cheyenne Mountain back up to my house (about 2.5 miles ride one way, with a grade ranging from 0 to 12% along the way). So we recently bought a pair of Trek eBikes so that I could ride in around our neighborhood whenever feasible, and so that my wife could keep up with me on the steep hills with her own eBike when she has time to ride. I bought the 17.5" Powerfly 7 mountain bike, but the smallest women's mountain bike was much too tall for my wife and she had to get the 14" Neko+ trail/hybrid. I tested the XM700+ and the Dual Sport+ first, but they didn't fit me as well as this one (and the one I got is sweet on single tracks unlike the others). The 29" tires roll over everything, and the Rock Shox Reba RL forks work great in combination with the Suntour NCX suspension seat post. The 203mm hydraulic front disk brakes are very impressive stoppers on fast downhill rides (up to 42.7mph so far), and the 75NM of torque lets me climb up very steep grades and trails. The bikes are class-1 pedal assist-only (no throttle), using torque sensing at the crank to multiply our effort, but with no assist past 20mph. We keep the assist levels as low as possible for the best workout and longest battery range. My bike adds power to the amount that I put into the crank in 4 levels: adds 55% more, 120%, 210%, or 300% more (up to 250W continuous or 500W peak), and my oxygen requirement has been dramatically reduced. My wife's bike does 50%, 100%, and 200%. Because of the mid-drive, the motor can benefit from the gear-set to make climbs easier. But because of the torque sensor, we still have to get some exercise in order to get the motor to help with climbs. On totally flat ground, any setting for assist makes pedaling effortless, which means I can leave my oxygen at home (not really true since my O2 sats drop to 85% just by walking). Range in the lowest assist mode on the easiest terrain is about 15 miles per 1 bar of battery (out of 5), or as much as 75 miles. On the harder rides around our neighborhood it drops 1/5 bars of battery every 6-8 miles, so my range would be closer to 30-40 miles. But I haven't ridden far enough to drain it more than 3 bars. I got an ECOhitch Invisi 1.25" hitch installed on my WRX (totally hidden behind the bumper) so we can take the bikes on a rack for holiday trips. We're going to Glenwood Springs CO this Memorial Day weekend, and we'll be able to ride the bike paths along the river in both directions. In the past we'd rent bikes and catch a shuttle to take us upriver so we could ride back downhill. Some parts would still be slightly uphill, and I'd need my oxygen despite the lower altitude. The plan is to ride out to the drop-off point and back, without needing the shuttle this time. Here's a pic of my wife with both bikes, then me, and the car with rack and her bike. (phone camera lens makes wife look tiny and me look huge because she's farther away behind the bikes and I'm closer and in front). I'd like to upgrade the bike rack to a 1up (or a Kuat NV base) at some point, because it's quite difficult to lift a 43 and 46 pound eBike onto the current rack.

  25. nope, I just don't get all the fawning over Joss Whedon. Some of what he's written is clever, and sometimes it's bad writing covered up by bad acting and directing.
