  1. I set up a phone interview for a job I badly want, for next Wednesday. University IT director position, 5 minute commute, excellent pay and benefits. and for once it's a job where people on my reference list are known quantities, and respected ones. I applied Tuesday, so it seems that they are moving fairly quickly.

  2. Lance is fencing Russian fencers this week and he will fence two Korean national team fencers next week along with having private coaching with the Russian and Italian coaches. Fun times, I just hope it makes a difference in Salt Lake City. On the plus side I am getting much better at ordering food and wine in Italian.

  3. Soft tips are dumb. Steel tips all around here. Whenever I drop for a dartboard it'll be a proper sisal one. **BRENT** Sent from my ONEPLUS A3000 using Tapatalk

  6. Good luck, Jacob! Breaking bones is easy. Just ride 2-wheeled vehicles. On the plus side, my rib(s) are healing well.

  7. My "designed and tested on deployment" Marine Raider watch finally arrived. Nice packaging and a couple of strap options. I think this will be a great Ti beater for the summer when I do not want to wear the other beaters. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  8. I liked it better when they made them from real feathers. I gave a set of pretty heavy ones with feather tails to my father for one of his birthdays, around 38. I don't like darts with plastic tip and those horrible pinhole dartboards. The Hammer Head look good.

  9. http://www.bottelsendartsinternational.com/shark-skins-gt-hammer-head-249gts-24-gram/ or for slightly heavier http://www.bottelsendartsinternational.com/shark-skins-gt-hammer-head-265gts-26-gram/ This is my other want; same shape but with a different coating. A matte black instead of the sandpaper-esque ones above. http://www.bottelsendartsinternational.com/gt-hammer-head-265gtbk-26-gram/ Enjoy your shopping, dick. **BRENT**

  11. SMH. Was definitely more consistent with these. Had to close 15 and Bull Tried about 12 darts in 4-5 different weights before I found something. There was a set I liked more but not for 25% more. Heh, I actually described what I wanted after throwing different things. "So, we have exactly what you're describing, but it's 135$." 270% of max budget? Sounds about right. **BRENT**

  12. All the albums starting from DSotM until TFC were largely conceptualized by Roger Waters and his thematic/concept album way of organization along with, as you said, more lyricism of a more direct nature. Those are arguably the most well-known of PF albums, and what he was musically quoting from. The instrumental, more ambient/psychedelic phase was everything before and possibly including Meddle, and there was some level of returning to roots after Roger Waters left as well. So I'd say it depends on your interpretation of the word classic, and which is not one and the same as your favourite period. Just listened to this:

  13. Thanks, Dusty. I hope that is this HR person. I'm sick of being runner up! Eventually everybody better than me is going to get a job, right?

  14. On the double-plus side, being not dead is good. Best wishes, Jacob -- I would wish you luck, but you don't need it, you just need to find an interviewer who is good enough to realize what an excellent worker you'd be.

  15. +1 to the good luck wishes! Try to imagine a scenario where they may be in need of a solution, and propose options.....with the way kids are roaming the interwebz, I'm sure network security and malware are a big to-do.....

  17. in other words, boomers bought a lot of guitars, and are dying now, and there aren't as many GenXers buying expensive guitars to pretend they're in the stones. There's still a market for good guitars, but brand means less, and the over all market is somewhat smaller.

  20. OK, back on track. One burned resistor replaced. I guess the malfunction was due to the input tube, but I actually don't know for sure. So I took a new tube and the balance servo wasn't able balance it out. Tried two more still not able to get balance but eventually I found a tube that worked. I should have made room for a balance trimmer and jumper for the servo on the board. For the sound. I'm not very good at describing how something sounds, so you won't get any details from me, sorry. How does it compare to the T2? I'll pass on that one as well but I think Kevin somehow is hunting the T2….. We should let the blood hounds (Kerry, Birgir, et al.) join him.

  21. Listening to the 50th anniversary release of Sgt. Pepper's. Giles Martin did a really really nice job. It's a joy to listen to. I didn't pony up for the version that included the 96/24 tracks but I may after listening to the 44.1/16

  22. Stuff like this is why I find electric cars and their rapid development so fascinating. They are going all out in solving the charge issues (hello high voltage) and the performance is just incredible. I've been toying with the idea of picking up a used Nissan Leaf as they cost nothing to run here, the electricity is so cheap. There are also new seat rails available which means I can fit in the bloody thing...

  23. Good to see his is relatively undamaged after that fearsome crash. I also was not far off on energy storage in the batteries. From the Rimac website, the battery (650V!) is 90kWh capacity. Which is 324MJ, 27% less than my engineering estimate of 450MJ. But it is a bit of a beast. 2.5 seconds to 100km/h, top speed of 355km/h, 1224hp, 1600Nm torque http://www.rimac-automobili.com/en/supercars/concept_one/ Edit Just to put those numbers into context, I have an old early 80's, V12, 5.3 litre Jaguar. That takes 8 seconds to 100km/h, top speed of 250km/h, 350hp, 480Nm torque.
