Thanks for the birthday wishes. Went out for a nice dinner at our favorite Japanese restaurant and over indulged in Sake and Sushi. Since Karen’s Birthday is three days before mine our new house will serve as an appropriate present for us both.3 points

I assume one of the design problems is the chip hasn't been made in like 20 years and his stock was running low. Any posts on SBAF should be taken with a massive grain of salt, but the DAC looks interesting. Will go through his diyaudio posts to find out more, thanks.2 points

There was an Evo that went over that corner where the Hoonicorn (makes me chuckle...funny name) kicked up the dirt. Somehow the two in the Evo managed to walk away. I've got the link but I'm not a big fan of posting carnage. Personally, I love that the Mustang is twin turbo, AWD and they use those bad ass transmissions. I'm not all about that tire smoke unless it's functional, but I can't argue the son of a gun can drive...and has a brass set on him. HS2 points

Yeah, TDA1541A availability certainly is an issue, particularly when you need to parallel 8 of them or so... And agreed on grain of salt regarding SBAF... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Steve and I cut a window out of the wall today so I can put in a ~12" deep medicine cabinet. In the process, we got a good look at the structure of the wall which is steel lath, about an inch of concrete, and then some plaster. Overall, a very messy experience. The wall ate my oscillating tool, but we got through with an angle grinder. The first pic shows the tile, and the wall before the cut (that's the existing hole from the old cabinet) the second is the piece we removed.1 point

Debbie made Vivian Howard’s tomato pie tonight. Al made one a couple of weeks ago. Tomatoes, caramelized onions, basil, fontina and parmigiana reggiano. We had it at her restaurant a couple of years ago and loved it. Ours turned out very good with awesome flavor. Couldn’t stop eating it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

I had a memory foam mattress for several years. Comfortable for both my bride and I, one a side sleeper and the other a stomach sleeper. Warm in the winter, hot in the summer, but oh so comfortable. However, when I replaced it I found a local manufacturer with an incredible reputation who does very little advertising. Makes coil spring mattresses. Had ours for a year and both my bride and I like it .... a lot! A lot of bang for the buck. Lots of websites of questionable support (manufacturers), reputation (paid by manufacturers) or just awful advice. Found https://www.themattressunderground.com to be reliable depending on how much effort you want to put into purchasing a new mattress.1 point

I've been sleeping on a new hybrid mattress from Sealy called the Gilded Breath. I'm not much of a bed/mattress critic but I am a side sleeper. This is a mid priced mattress with a pillow top and multi layers of foam on a conventional spring base. IIRC I paid about $770 on sale. Like I said, I'm not very critical of what I'm sleeping on but so far so good (about a month).1 point

I am completely in love with my new 4 layer latex (Dunlop xfirm, Dunlop firm, Dunlop firm, Talalay med) mattress from Foam Sweet Foam. For some reason, the 4 layers is so more comfortable than the 3 layer version I have now in the guest room (which was great to begin with). Both beds are much more comfortable than the Casper guest bed I have in my opinion.1 point

That truly sucks. I can tell you that this is a very special amp indeed. Had I known how good, I could have saved some time and purchases prior to now. It is easily the best amp I've heard for the K1000. Even besting my DIY Pass F5.1 point
