  1. They have arrived! The builder got the color exactly what I wanted and was able to match the trapezoidal shape of the speakers perfectly.

  2. I see, and thank you so very much for the quick respond and the confirmations. This explains the 7812 which supplies the relay load is regulating 12.1V and then drifting to 12.65V and down to 12.16V again I fired her up again and measured the HV together with the Bias, and ignore the -16.5V as I have no load to put it on. +12: 12.01-12.1V -12: -16.75V Low Bias: 276 High Bias:: 565 +500: +496V -560: -555V -260: -242V -500: -494V I also tapped into the Relay supply for the Led indicator to avoid tapping into the regulated from the output....but I guess it doesn’t matter since the LT7912 tends to overshoot without loads ? the Led is only an indicator and not a functioning switch

  3. A work colleague from Amsterdam sent me a YT link to this young lady, have been enjoying several videos.....nice guitar work, fun with vocal beatbox and tape loops. A couple times her guitar loops and playing reminded me of Vini Reilly from Durutti Column.....

  6. Looks like significant price reductions on what is probably NOS. Nothing new from ray in a few years. also I really like this one, complete lie from day one. The amp is not differential. Its 4 x single ended amps same as liquid carbon. no common mode rejection... and one of the worst phase splitters ever

  7. One issue I hope they addressed was how much sound bled from the stats I tested with my Ygg / Carbon combo. I didn't realize them until I handed them to the gent next to me how loud I must have been blasting the folks next to me. It was literally like having a transistor radio playing. Some bleed on open backed headphones is perfectly natural and acceptable, but this was bordering on ridiculous. I can't speak to the man. Sounds like a great guy. I was simply focusing on the product. I will admit I struggle with all the fan boy crap on HF. Way too much support without sound critical thought IMO, but hey...maybe I'm just an old, crusty hard ass... HS

  8. Yep, Dan's a good guy. Very honest when he misses the mark, and he just works to improve it from there. I'm looking forward to what he comes up with in the future. Competition is good.

  9. offset currents in the opamp, no opamp is perfect. If it likes to be at -4 leave it alone.

  11. I've always liked Dan, too, he's a great guy and quite the character (at a post-NY-meet dinner a few years, he was regaling us with some great Burning Man stories). I think he makes very good products, and tries hard to keep improving. And while this causes issues with older gear losing value, I do not put him in the same category as HiFi-Man, which seem to rush out lesser quality products, only to introduce rev 2's shortly thereafter to fix the issues (and again greatly devalue the first series). I heard Dan's prototype Stat's at a NY meet, one driven by a BHSE, one by a Cavalli amp. The Cavalli amp one sounded horrendous; closed-in, limited in frequency response, just kind of lifeless. I discounted this, well because Cavalli. The BHSE-driven phones sounded more promising, but it took a high turn of the volume to get it going. I'll leave it to those who know the most to critique the products....but I DO like and respect the man, too. And Purk, if he can compete with the Stax phones, especially without going all proprietary, I'm all for that!

  20. Mostly-white cat performs ridiculous dance for several minutes while playing with newly found twist-tie. Jacob takes twist-tie, thinking that it's a choking hazard (Jacob knows very little about cats). Mostly-white cat makes pathetic mewling sounds. Jacob returns twist-tie. Mostly-white cat performs ridiculous dance for three seconds, then decides that magically appearing-and-disappearing twist-tie is fickle, and thus not deserving of respect. Mostly-white cat proceeds to ignore twist-tie, forever after. Jacob looks to computer to type post about cats. Mostly-white cat is replaced by mostly-black cat, in the meantime. This is Jacob's life, now, because Jacob now has cats.

  21. In other news, I just heard a Senn HE-1 has landed in Iceland. I missed a call from the Senn rep during the week so I guess I need to haul some gear over to their place for a comparison...
