  1. the only one with a lifetime warranty was the liquid carbon version 1. https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=2013.1.20141003.7.4edb00b7muYKyQ&scm=1007.10011.70203.100200300000001&id=560442101039&pvid=d455e4ef-3a60-417c-9653-9dc0aea4d782 this guy will repair your piece of shit for you, the shipping both ways is going to be more than a liquid carbon is actually worth. my offer to ONE and only ONE person, send me your liquid crimson (the only one I don't have schematics of) and I will fix it for free. (plus parts and shipping) options can include turning the output stage into bipolar.

  2. I am running 200mA bias current and 22 VDC rails now using a 200VA trafo with 22v secondaries supplying 4 boards and the Sigma 22 heatsinks are quite warm to the touch at 45 C. The Sigma 22's dropout voltage appears to be about 8-9 VDC which is consistent with the AMB documentation. If I had known how good this amp is I would have made it a full-blown, dual-mono, two chassis build with PSU in a separate chassis so I don't compromise its performance. Unfortunately the chassis I picked for it has barely enough space for a single GRLV so that's what I will do. Waiting for parts to finish the PSU and I will report back if a single GRLV is adequate to supply 4 CFP2 boards with 200mA bias current. In it's current setting, the current draw on each rail is about 850mA 4 boards combined. Here is a photo to show the chassis I am using.

  3. Actually, that's nowhere near Lancaster, PA. Zoom out on the map, it's in the middle of nowhere Southwest of DC by a bit. Also, kidding, because I'm not 12. I might've been last night, though. 0.12% BAC, that is. Alright, nowhere near, but I regress when inebriated.

  5. https://geardiary.com/2017/07/25/even-h2-wireless-headphones/ My Christmas present this year! So, I haven’t been able to enjoy high end audio gear for almost three years now due to an inner ear infection which left me with high frequency hearing loss above 8khz, tinnitus, and intolerance to spl above 80db ... all only in my left ear. If you’re interested, it’s called secondary endolymph hydrops. Basically I have too much pressure of the fluid in my left inner ear. It sucks. Nothing sounds good any more. Detail in my left ear... gone. Soundstage ... gone. Anything above a minimal volume hurts in my left ear. Minimal volume which is tolerable doesn’t allow me to hear any detail. I’m hoping this headphone will let me listen again because it will tune the frequency response to my specific hearing loss and allow me to enjoy music at a low volume listening level. Fingers crossed. Also wonder if other middle agers with known or unknown hearing loss may benefit.

  7. My 6+ was fine on 11, but Debbie’s 6 has gone totally to shit. Slow, connectivity issues. I got my X yesterday and everything is very snappy. And so much smaller than the + models. Debbie has already decided to get an X ASAP. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  11. Another CFP lives. Started with a single-ended, two-board pilot, proceeded to testing a four-board, balanced setup. Have been listening to it for the past hour or so. Have to settle with 22VDC rails from a Sigma 22 owing to the limit of the transformer I have. Bias set to 150mA. Heatsinks barely get warm. Next is to build yet another GRLV for it with possibly 30VDC rails and higher bias current. Even in its somewhat compromised state, the speed, transparency and resolution of this thing is just incredible!

  14. I didn’t see any response so...I have no idea about the honey, but I am quite familiar with Stranahan’s... Last I heard, Stranahan’s shared a complex with Tin Cup...Tin Cup is whiskey from Indiana (MGP) that is shipped to Colorado, bottled, then shipped all over (including back to us here in Indiana)...Stranahan’s, however, uses their own juice...It is, obviously, young whiskey...They do, however, have a 4yo whiskey called Diamond Peak which has a black label & a lofty price... Much like the Taiwanese whiskeys (like Kavalan), Stranahan’s claims that their product matures at a different rate due to environmental factors...In Stranahan’s case, their claim is elevation & the use of a temperature controlled facility... I like regular Stranahan’s (yellow) a lot...It’s a great choice if your goal is smooth, pleasant, unoffensive etc....& I like that they hand bottle & have the bottlers write a couple/few words about themselves &/or what music they were listening to on the label... Anywho, at the end of the day it’s overpriced like all young whiskeys, but it’s towards the front of the pack in the category...It can usually be found cheapest online...

  15. Cranked the bias current to 180mA. Broke out my LCD2 as I had a feeling that this amp will be a good match for it. People with LCD2 really ought to listen to it driven by this amp at least once just for the experience. I am still in awe of the speed, clarity, resolution and control of this amp. I can understand now why Kevin said in his post that this should be the end-all of dynamic amps. This is my favorite of all my dynamic amps and I don't think it's entirely a new toy syndrome at play.

  16. Just finished taking my 5 hour long, every 10 years Specialty Boards recertification test. I’m thinking this is the last time I’m taking this damn thing. (Assuming I passed this one!) Treating myself to lunch at Shaw’s Crabhouse, which I’ve always wanted to try! Hot appetizer combo Seared George’s Bank Sea Scallops with cremini and maitake mushrooms, red wine-balsamic butter sauce
