  1. Steak and wine in an old college local — The Highlander. Tartan cushions, tartan curtains, pictures of drum majors, not a damn thing has changed. There can be only oooooooone! PS: That’s my side salad because the doctor said to. Couldn’t eat it all, too fibrous. [emoji6]

  2. Managing my first project for the new company. It's a small bathroom remodel. A 6' x 8' room and the floor and ceiling were out of level more than 3" in that 8'. Got them both level and am ready for the tile guy tomorrow morning. It still feels a bit strange, as before I was the carpenter, sheetrocker, tile guy etc... I kind of like this delegating thing.

  7. Should. Had Filipino food for lunch, which was so tasty that Waffles had to come over to check it out.

  8. Not sure if we have a KGSS thread but I'll just post this here. So last year it dawned on me that I built my first KGSS amp 15 years ago and something had to be done to celebrate that. It started off pretty mild with me reworking Justin's old KGSS board file, changing parts as needed, updating and the like to what we do now. Then it hit me, that's too easy so I went off the deep end. I wanted to do something unique so why not the smallest high performance amp I could possibly do? The KGSS offers some advantages over the KGSSHV here, fewer parts due to the resistor current sources in the third stage. Now there are performance issues, we all know that but this is how the KGSS was back in the day. The plan was to be authentic so 2SK389 input devices and the only major change being a switch to 2SC4686A's from the 2SC3675's as they are simply superior and fully insulated to boot. Power supply is similar to the old KGSS and is a reworked one from my cheap KGSSHV. 2SA1627A based CCS with the regular fet output for a +/-350V output. The output stage current is set to the standard KGSS setting which is ideal for this tiny chassis. So how tiny...this tiny... Pictured here in the KGSS normal habitat, with a SR-007BL mk1 and a Stax HPS-1. I did say it was tiny... 21cm wide, 29cm deep with the knob and just 7.5cm tall. That doesn't leave a whole lot of internal room so very strict transformer specs, about 15 drafts of the fully through hole amp boards to make the ground plane work and for it all to fit strict height requirements of the parts used. So here are the internals... Now you can please excuse me, I'm going to go and listen to some early 2000's music on the 007Mk1's...

  9. Installed a new negative regulator, adjusted the trimpots and soldered in the 0 ohm resistors. Finally had a listen. I have never heard the full size Dynalo SuSy so I cant compare but this little amp sounds amazing through my HD 6xx! Absolutely no noise except a tiny bit of scratchyness while turning the TKD pot. Voltage rails are +19.99/-20.03. Here are some temps I measured positive regulator heatsink- 50C negative regulator heatsink - 60C output transistors (no heatsink) - 75C Thank you Kerry, Spritzer, KG, Pars, mypasswordis, Sbelyo, John McLean, mwl168, RudeWolf, JoaMat and countless other people for making this possible. Now that I have an amp I am turning my attention to casing. I'm willing to organize a group buy for enclosures but I need at least 10 to make it interesting. Ill make sure to have panels for both the TKD and Alpha pot. Anyone interested?

  20. Just recomissioned my BH original - the one Kevin designed in 2000-2004 with just about every transistor in it obsolete. It has been sitting for several years after I finished the KG SRM/T2 clone. Fired up just fine, and still sounds stunning.

  21. The perspicacious would opt for perspex........ I can just see the aftermarket crowd going wild with this one...... Besides the usual plethora of aftermarket cables, there will be:- Coloware will have a range of colored covers.... There will be a plethora of different wood covers. Edstrelow will have a pattern of sorbothane to make these Stax killers The Hifiman HE-6 crowd will break out different felt fazor mods. Anaxilus will have 3 different mods to get rid of the echo chamber cavern effect... The newest mod will be to coat the inside of the covers with teflon to make sure even the sound doesn't stick... etc, etc, ad hoc, ad addendum, ad astra. ad nauseum...........................
