I bet everybody knew this was coming but we've been moving fast and the board is taking shape. If it's not clear from the photo then this is a massive slab, 16" x 12", so quite a bit bigger then the production version. It will be built like the BHSE with the board mounted to the top of the chassis, with the tubes sticking out of the top and the components on the bottom. Massive heatsinks are needed to keep this beast cool and a single angle bracket is used on each side of the board to connect all the parts together and make assembly just a bit easier. To honor the Stax legacy the following will be printed on the board: "With the utmost respect and admiration for Dr. Takeshi Hayashi, a living legend". For those who don't know, Dr. Hayashi is the designer of the T2 and also the son of the Stax founder. Without his great vision and talents we wouldn't have the quality of phones/amps we have today. We will keep you updated as the project moves forward.1 point

So, tried the youtube video songs on both 007 and 009 with both Carbon and GG, and I can't hear any sounds that do not seem to be meant to be part of the mix. There's however a ton of bass content in the first song and even more so in the following OG Heartthrob. It's not many songs that make me want to eq down the bass substantially on the 009's; these definitely do. Can't run youtube stuff through the spectrum analyzer in any simple way, but to me it sound like there's more going on in the lower freqs than what's healthy for home listening systems. Maybe mixed for clubs? I've turned it up as loud as I'm comfortable with, so can't help further I'm afraid. Steven Wilson's "To the bone" has a few massive bass tones during the intro. Would you mind having a listen and see if you hear the same type of distortion?1 point

Below is a picture of my modified DIY T2. Zoom in and you can finds several resistors standing. There are also standing STN9360. You won’t find other types of STN9360. Those homemade boards have been in service for four years now. I’ve made several modifications and the boards have been very kind to me. Kevin’s t2shrinkedv10 is based on my home cooked boards. I’m confident his board is OK. But be aware if something goes wrong it could be a tricky thing working on that board as some areas are pretty crowded. Today I would make a different layout of the board as I find the board a bit obsolete.1 point

i think a lot of these companies end up in a 3-5 million annual revenue area, with no growth, and having to support a full management staff and all the crap that goes with being large enough to be a 'real' business. i guess it's hard to break out of that without going Monster/Skullcandy on your product line1 point
