Having an infrared side burner on the grill is pretty fucking awesome. Thanks for the tip Marc. Indirect heat @225F for 30 minutes and then a 30 second sear per side on the infrared burner.10 points

The moment of truth - got in a rear panel for a super dense amplifier project, which houses two front ends that wires up to different output stages. Hopefully I will have time tomorrow to get the output stage bolted onto the heat sink to see if everything fits. It will be very close! Missing a few M3 screws and the switches, but those will be ordered next part run, but more or less everything is installed! Edit: not quite - there are pluggable buffers in front of the transformers that would block view of the relay - I need to add those in. Hopefully an update tomorrow when all fits!10 points

Looks like I only have clearance issues with some interference from the rectifier heat sinks. Not bad for no fancy CAD time wasting6 points

Yeah, not ashamed that we made the right decision last night. Plus the fresh (filtered) air and exercise always does me good.2 points

I disagree. Had Boston been capable of even an average night of shooting he'd have been out on his can. And that was against a Celtics team without its two best players. He's still capable of amazing things but I think he's done far better in years past.1 point

Thank you so much for all your advices. I've finally fixed the problem. The C2M1000170 and 10M90S on my board have gone bad for some reasons. I replaced C2M1000170 with a SCT3080KLGC11 from a local store, and luckily it worked. I parallel the 5R with one more 5R, and now the power supply is working perfectly. The amp has been running for at least 2 hours with no problem. I couldn't have fixed it without your help, Kevin, Blueman2, and Soren. Thanks again.1 point

I've tried using golden reference HV supplies for the T2, but had some issues with negative rails as well as the current limiting when an issue occurs. I ended up reverting back to Kevin's original design. I will spend some more time with this in the future. My current GR HV mini board include depletion mode MOSFETs for current limiting in front of the GR HV supply similar to Kevin's T2 design. I'm also experimenting with a couple of ideas on how to enhance the current limiting on the GR HV (in case of a short), but need some more time for testing and $$$ for parts (... and a blast shield)1 point

Done! These are not just your standard two ways. Instead, Marc has paired basically a full range driver and a super tweeter, then customized a crossover to take best advantage of that pairing. These drivers have to stretch their legs before I can really assess them, but so far I'm impressed. They're bigger than I had originally thought I'd build them, but still, make a pretty good nearfield monitor. Bass is far better than I expected. Eventually, they will darken to match the Parasound case. The window will speed that process up.1 point

No would be the short answer. The pinout is different, the transformer setup is different and the bias supply is very different. Now you could rip everything out and do something like that but it would be a lot of work.1 point

Yeah, I’ve always been extremely thin also. But I was also really coordinated. So through sixth grade I was considered athletic, and usually picked early, but after everyone got bigger than me some time in middle school, I was suddenly not very athletic. Sadly, my basketball career ended. But my life as a geek started! [emoji106]1 point

Sören being a fucktard...glad to see nothing changes when I take a week off in Niagara. So pathetic... As for the review, if anybody thinks that I had anything to say about any of it... you have clearly never talked to Bob or followed any of his work. He told me he would write what he wanted and I got zero say in it, which is exactly what I wanted. This wasn't even supposed to be a review, he just asked me if he could borrow a Carbon to give the 007's an equal platform against the dynamic competition. I was happy to oblige, sent him my personal Carbon and also offered him a Pure Bipolar to try out, to create an even more even playing field. Both sets being driven balanced with amps that share the same design ideas. This was back in February or March and it was only after he'd heard that this grew into a kind of review. I knew he liked them as he bought the Pure Bipolar and will probably buy the Carbon as well but I didn't have any idea what he would write. Hell I didn't even know when it was posted, I only heard about it when my inbox lit up. Now normally I would never even entertain the idea of having reviews as pretty much all are garbage, done by people with the integrity of used care salesmen/realtors and are just verbal diarrhea. Just look at the garbage Jude is posting and he's far from the worst. You may disagree with Bob's findings all you want but he sure as shit is more entitled to his opinion that most. He did expose Focal and I know from experience that it isn't easy to hold up an opinion that goes against the "norm", no matter how wrong the "norm" may be. I have fond memories of the death threats I got from some unstable people after I said the HE90's were far from the best. I can also imagine how happy Focal were about all of this...1 point
