  2. A cycling thread eh? After riding an old early nineties daccordi steel bike for a couple of years, i finally bought a moden caad 12 ultegra in early june this year. I honestly didn't expect the difference to be as big as it was, and the modern alu bike just feels so much better. It's so quick to accelerate, so fast, and the handling is insane! So far i've ridden it 1648 km, and i'm getting kind of worried that i spend all my free time riding the damn thing (or thinking about it) i've even bought a used wahoo kickr so that i can keep riding it through the winter... i think it might be time for an intervention.

  4. Catoctin isn't half bad if I remember right. Had it a long time ago in San Francisco, seem to recall it was slightly toned down from something like Willett Family Estate 2-3 year (actual Willett distillate, not the old MGP they sourced) but still in the same spectrum. I think Catoctin also does a limited cask strength bottling and I would buy that if I saw it (unlikely in IL though). Knob Creek Cask Strength 2009 is good. One of the best values in rye in the last few years considering anything of a similar age and proof is now $150+ (see Kentucky Owl). Naaman originally recommended it to me, and I took my bottle to Jeff's to compare to an old Willett FE 5 year rye. It's more a bourbon than a rye in some respects, like Rittenhouse in a way. But that's just how Beam does rye.

  5. I'm riding my ebike all the time these days. To make the Trek more enticing, I'm planning on fixing its two biggest flaws, which are the lack of a dropper seatpost and 3 chainrings. To that end, I've ordered a Brand-X dropper from Reaction Cycles and and Sram NX Eagle drive kit. The dropper arrives next week and Sram is releasing the NX Eagle in September. Can't wait to play with them.

  6. The 13-year-old learned that it's all fun and memes until you actually catch your Mom with the ligma/sugma setup. I tried to warn him. RIP.

  7. The new ZYX Ultimate 4D cart arrived. Quite a step up from the Zyx 3X I had and destroyed! LOL More resolving, better separation, depth, etc. The end of the line for me.

  10. Was that the whole shelf? Not much to get excited about to my mind. High West Rendezvous Rye used to be a regular rye for me. I don't like most of their other expressions. You might like Bourye as a bourbon-rye mix. Similarly Basil Hayden Two by Two is a blend. I think Knob Creek Rye has a pretty good bite like their bourbon. I dislike these, or think they are not worth buying: Hudson Manhattan Templeton Michters (most of them) Russell's Reserve

  12. Get what my mother just bought for herself: fluted bezel on oyster bracelet (she bought 36mm). She went with a black dial with roman numerals, which isn't to my taste, but the fluted bezel and the oyster bracelet looks great. I would otherwise have said fluted and jubilee (since the engine turned bezel isn't offered anymore), but the oyster really looks great on it.

  14. The L3 is a single feed (not single ended) differential tube amp. The T4 is a parafeed differential hybrid amp. The T5 will be, if it every gets done, a more powerful version of the T4 that also does away with the parafeed cap. The T4 was designed to be less expensive by reducing the power and by eliminating a bunch of assembly labor. But within its output limits I think it is 98% of the quality of the other amps. There are of course a few things you can do with a higher budget, but they are mostly gild on a lily.

  15. Right up my alley. Their songs all kinda sound the same but that also means they're all good. ? Bassist reminds me of Peter Hook from New Order.
