  1. Appetizer: Sous-vide ~32 hour ribs, + oven after chilling + finish in cast iron Main: 28oz NY Strip - reverse seared Chef is a bit of a dick, but the food was solid (except for a few bites that were a fatty plasma/liquid ecstasy combo).

  2. Yes I means "Spartacus Love Theme". If your set has a minimum of quality (and I know that you have a nice set ? ) you can appreciate the three pianos interacting in the interpretation of "Spartacus Love Theme". A small change in volume is noticed. I´m not sure if this effect was tried to minimize in the mixing of the three tracks to give the impression of listening to a "single" piano or not, but in some moments the difference in volume is clearly noticeable. Yes... "Peace Piece" has something "magical". I guess that this chords (Cmaj7 y G9sus4) has something... and then Bill seems to float on the melody. I guess that's why the two takes of "Flamenco Sketches" are my faborite Miles Davis songs Something similar happens to me with "Spartacus Love Theme". Since we are talking about "Spartacus Love Theme", Earl Klugh has a nice interpretation too. This album was given to me by my first music teacher in 1991 Well, I leave it, I have already screwed up the thread with my paranoia ?

  3. Listening to "Some Other Time" (or "Peace Piece") I felt like listening to this other Evans album. The improvisation on the theme of love of "Spartacus" is simply magical: Bill Evans "The Solo Sessions" Although most famous interpretation (three pianos) is here.

  8. I got one of the Amazon Chase cards a while back and I've been super happy with all the perks. BTW, if you need a pretty nice Mac interface/preamp, you can borrow my spare Metric Halo ULN-2 + dsp (2D card). I only use it for field work these days so I wouldn't miss it for a couple of months. Just ask. Duh,.. Just remembered that the ULN-2 is a firewire device. One of these days I'll upgrade it to 3D (usb-c and ethernet) for now, I use it with my 2012 MBP. But, if you can use it ask.

  10. Watched this morning: Eroica. A BBC film about Beethoven and the first rehearsal of his 3rd. Wonderful rendition of the symphony by Gardiner, by the way. It's on Youtube, you have it as a 9 part watch list or a version with Spanish subtitles. They're not very annoying

  12. You can easily remotely wipe a windows install in Bootcamp, the same way you can on a PC. They are both basically the same hardware. I used to set this up for NSF and NIH grant stuff all the time. There is no difference, and it's certainly a "clean install" on a new partition.

  15. It was shallow. I think somewhat by necessity as there's just too much backstory (all the 80s trivia) to shove in for a current audience. Watched it with my kids and they were like "cool effects, middling story, terrible Dad music."
