Apparently I'm a one note McTrumpet* in this thread. *Funny how "Mc" means "shitty" as in "McDonalds" until one is implying blue meters and a green logo.4 points

I bought my brother a hand grinder for Christmas – a local coffee place roasts their own coffee, so I bought him two bags to start. Personally, I've been cutting down on coffee, but I still drink it a few times a week – it's more of a treat that way: https://www.hario.jp/seihin/productdetail.php?product=MMSP-1-HSV I have a little Bialetti Moka Express stove top coffee maker that I sometimes use – definitely not for fancy coffee... it's old school, but fun to use once in a while:3 points

Well, it's official. They suck for music. The low end is all attack and no decay. Drums sound all hollowed out. Eq isn't going to fix this. These are going to be used with the tablett. They isolate and are fairly efficient. I can now watch bad anime in the same room with the wife.2 points

Yeah, I understand that, and I’ve cut way back on the drinking, so I cut way back on the buying as well. Instead of having 8 1lb. bags going, I only have 3 or 4 1/2 lb. bags going, and only buy two at a time. (I don’t ignore all y’all’s advice.) So two of those four are usually almost done. The older coffee is going to my sister for composting.2 points

Thanks! They seemed like a lot of money at the time they came out, which is why I didn't buy them for years... every time I look at the HP-2, I feel like I should be listening to them every day, all day.1 point

@HiWire Thanks for your impressions. They caused me to try the deluxe pads, and as you stated, it improved the hp-2s in the areas you pointed out. The flats are going into a zip lock bag for the foreseeable future.1 point

Not only that but if you're a daily drinker it gets old fast. Tmoney's rec is probably the best bang for your buck option.1 point

As far as recommendations go, I have this and it has served me very well since I got it. It isn't fancy but it gets the job done without having a gigantic footprint. https://www.amazon.com/Baratza-Encore-Conical-Coffee-Grinder/dp/B007F183LK/ref=sxin_3_osp20-7b9ffe7e_cov?ascsubtag=7b9ffe7e-af5a-42c1-a420-c5f672be97b6&creativeASIN=B007F183LK&crid=1BTC39MZLV4IT&cv_ct_cx=baratza&cv_ct_id=amzn1.osp.7b9ffe7e-af5a-42c1-a420-c5f672be97b6&cv_ct_pg=search&cv_ct_wn=osp-search&keywords=baratza&linkCode=oas&pd_rd_i=B007F183LK&pd_rd_r=c4d83c6f-8982-44d7-b8ac-a6879cfa4353&pd_rd_w=vhvI0&pd_rd_wg=DL2iK&pf_rd_p=e1262d27-368d-44f1-a337-220e1af8b014&pf_rd_r=9NP35BJB6B4BKK2201XK&qid=1578764978&sprefix=burratz%2Caps%2C201&tag=bestcont06-201 point

RIP Neil Peart. I was never inspired to play the drums by Neil Peart -- I mean, seriously, what's the point? He had already demonstrated that he's on another plane. But I was inspired to pursue things _thoughtfully_ -- he put so much thought into everything he did, that he was zen master/another plane/next level. Meticulous craftsman. I want to be that, I still do, and I am reminded of that by his passing. I will strive to better myself. New not-quite-new-year's resolution, in all pursuits.1 point

The One A woman meets a man in a bar. They talk; they connect; they end up leaving together.. They get back to his place, and as he shows her around his apartment. she notices that one wall of his bedroom is completely filled with soft, sweet, cuddly teddy bears. There are three shelves in the bedroom, with hundreds and hundreds of cute, cuddly teddy bears carefully placed in rows, covering the entire wall! It was obvious that he had taken quite some time to lovingly arrange them and she was immediately touched by the amount of thought he had put into organizing the display. There were small bears all along the bottom shelf. Medium-sized bears covering the length of the middle shelf. And huge, enormous bears running all the way along the top shelf. She found it strange for an obviously masculine guy to have such a large collection of Teddy Bears, She is quite impressed by his sensitive side. But doesn't mention this to him. They share a bottle of wine and continue talking and, after awhile, she finds herself thinking, 'Oh my God! Maybe, this guy could be the one! Maybe he could be the future father of my children?' She turns to him and kisses him lightly on the lips. He responds warmly. They continue to kiss, the passion builds. And he romantically lifts her in his arms and carries her into his bedroom. Where they rip off each other's clothes and make hot, steamy love. She is so overwhelmed that she responds with more passion, more creativity, more heat than she has ever known. After an intense, explosive night of raw passion with this sensitive guy, they are lying there together in the afterglow. The woman rolls over, gently strokes his chest and asks coyly, 'Well, how was it?' The guy gently smiles at her, strokes her cheek, looks deeply into her eyes, and says: 'Help yourself to any prize from the middle shelf.'1 point

Just a follow up on my SS Mini build where I used the MPSW thru-hole transistors instead of the PZTA SMD version. Listening tonight, after 1 hour or so, the chassis top measured a max of 46°C, and scanning inside with the IR gun showed a max of 66°C. I did not remove the top to scan individual devices, but placing my hand on the top ( after 1 hour and 2 hours), it seems like it runs considerably cooler than I remember the SMD versions that I built. Sounds great as well, though I think the same as the SMD version.1 point

Don Larsen. He was married to my wife's first cousin, once removed (meaning my wife's mother's first cousin). I only met him once, at a funeral, where he was a none too thrilled to be a local celebrity - triggered by someone somewhat inappropriately asking him to sign a baseball (which he did anyway.)0 points

It was a year ago, but I only just learned of it: James Calvin Wilsey, the king of slow, and sometime Chris Isaak’s guitarist. I want to be him when I grow up.0 points
