  8. Draft of BIAS 580V regulator. Works in LTspice. After the voltage doubler is a Maida regulator. Q1 is a to247 mosfet, C1-3 are 27.5 mm film caps and rest of parts are surface mounted. For Maida regulator see: https://www.ti.com/lit/an/snoa648/snoa648.pdf?ts=1600430373786&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2F https://www.diyaudio.com/forums/vendor-s-bazaar/209067-21st-century-maida-regulator.html https://neurochrome.com/collections/power-supplies/products/21st-century-maida-http://www.pmillett.com/HV_reg.html

  10. Yeah, I will be using the 10 II in Music Mode. As this will be outside on the island, I am leaning towards line out and amp mics and not bothering with the Neumann.

  11. It is the album that I like the most by Tonbruket. I admit that I don't like Dan Berglund's solo work as much as Magnus Ostrom's

  12. Today I finally received all the spare parts. Di2 R8050 Deviator Di2 cable Derailleur hanger Dura Ace bottom bracket Dura Ace Chain I'm going to finish riding it all this weekend at Stevens and next week I'll pick up my Biachi. Lately I'm just strength training with the Tacx. It's funny because to go flat road (at 0%) at about 20 km/h I need to develop about 220W... this is not very normal. In real life with that power I'm riding over 40kms / h

  15. So the verdict is that they're pretty good for background music. They aren't able to produce a lot of bass, but I'm actually impressed at how good they sound, considering the limitations of tiny drivers that do not rest in the ear canal. One complaint was a lack of volume control, which didn't seem like a major flaw, seeing as the volume control on my phone is easily within reach. However, the latest update now has voice activated volume control. Another complaint was that anything past 60% volume was pretty distorted. I don't find that to be the case. 100% volume isn't that loud or distorted. Maybe that has more to do with the Note 9 than the Frames? So again, these aren't for critical listening. What they do, they do pretty well. Who knew I'd own Bose?

  19. Much of the Stax gear sold on eBay comes from estate sales bought by people who don’t know what they have. I was lucky when I bought a 207 pair & a pair of Lowther drivers from an audiophile who resells what he finds at those sales. The prices were good & everything was as represented. The obvious difference was that he knew what he had & priced accordingly.

  20. I was sent this and it was posted on SBAF so one can expect the level of discourse over there: There is so much here that I don't even know where to start. First off, they claim this circuit is "unique"...well it isn't. Old as the hills this one, same as the old TubeCad stuff, the Rudistor amps, the prototype Schiit built, that Trilogy H1 piece of shit and I've been building similar amps for the last 15 years. Stax also released something similar in the 60's so no...not unique. The amp circuit is simple and works well enough for a cheap amp so nothing wrong with that. I also like that they used a CCS on the front end (though they claim it is on all stages but that's not true) but my issue is with the PSU and the bias supply. What an utter clusterfuck.... The circuit requires a bipolar PSU so with a center tap transformer the bias supply can be a bit tricky but simple to solve really. I just don't understand what the hell they did with that delay circuit. It's just adding tubes because... tubes? Makes no sense at all. The bias supply seems to be driven off a tap for some reason. Also, those ballast resistors look like RN55 units and they are nowhere near adequate for the job. Smaller issues, twisted output wires are a no no, not sure what's up with those output "sockets" and an unregulated heater supply is never a good idea. Still I like the colors. Might have to do something like that...
