I've got a black cat that came with the house. He came wandering up after we moved in. It took months to transition him to the indoors. He was king of the backyard, doing battle with anything that moved. He would kill it and drop it on the back patio. After three years, we don't let him out at all. We do let him out in the screen porch. He likes lap sitting, but quite often extends his claws when he's purring and getting a rub. so affectionate and blood letting go hand in hand around here.3 points

Hell of a sale on these at thomann.de right now, @Dusty Chalk Edit, shipping to Canada is kinda pricey, so maybe it's not a great deal. But still. Purple.2 points

^in my case i realized i hadn't touched the brandy or rum leftover from last year's batch. i need to make more of a dent. should really just do the 14-egg recipe exactly as Matt documented but it is an insane amount of NOG for two people.2 points

Lately the left channel humming has increased to become even more bloody annoying. But… today I cured it (pure luck - trial and error approach). I have two umbilicals between psu and amplifier. Both carrying 580V bias and then joining at the stax connector. So, I removed left 580V bias wire in amplifier and the hum disappeared. To my ears the amplifier is now dead silent.2 points

Thanks for that, as always, just a wealth of information. but no, what I would prefer is to be able to apply filters or amplitude to each individual note, so for example, I could play ABCDE, and then reduce the pressure on B and D , and then increase it, to make the chord “breathe” alternately between dissonance and consonance.1 point

I've had the 49 key Seaboard Rise for a couple of years now and in some ways, I'm finally getting some use from it. I was hoping that MPE support in synths and sampler engines would improve more than it has but when it comes right down to it, I've been the main bottleneck. There are a couple of Kontakt Libraries that I have that are made for it along with a couple of soft synths (Cypher 2, Strobe 2 and Equator). They're tons of fun and it would be difficult to create these sounds/expressions any other way (of course, anything can be done if you're determined). More to the point of your inquiry, it isn't that difficult to adapt many instruments to take advantage of a few MPE gestures. For example, Glide is applied to Pitch Bend as a default so doing vibrato/slide on an upright bass is pretty easy. The difference between using a Pitch Bend wheel and the Roli is you can bend just one note out of a chord without having to create separate "pitch bend" and a static tracks. Same thing goes for Slide. Slide is moving your finger "Up" the key on the Seaboard. You can assign any modulation/cc to slide so if you can assign a high pass/distortion noise level, whatever to Slide, than you can increase/decrease that parameter for any note of a chord. There are plenty of YT videos to teach you how to do these things but it isn't easy. It's like learning a new instrument to do these things in real time. I find myself going back in a midi editor and adjusting/erasing/redoing these things so I don't spend much time trying to learn how to do it "live".1 point

The 009BK was always the TOTL unit so they might just be moving to that direction. For me they were always the best 009's by a mile too1 point

I am not sure it sounds any better, but it is a keeper for me because it runs cooler with the external PSU.1 point

It's just a matter of time. I have no doubt that in a month or so, 80% of the apps that are currently non-compatible or in testing will be in the yes column. For the one's that don't, it's very bad press but it seems like very well established apps just don't seem to mind it.1 point

After almost three and a half months, the KGST is finally in operation, and is sounding great. Thanks to all who have responded to my questions and given guidance. I am really surprised at how good the 40 year old headphone sounds with this amp. Special thanks also to Bigir and Dr. Gilmore for such wonder contributions to the community.1 point
