  1. Covid style lunch at the Marshall Store. Brought our own camp chairs and table. Fish and chorizo stew, Kilpatrick and Rockefeller oysters, and byo-beer. Delicious, breezy, and beautiful. I'm certainly thankful.

  3. Cranberry Sauce Ric's post has just triggered a "domestic" over should the brined turkey breast be jacuzzi'd or subjected to more conventional approaches. Happy Thanksgiving!

  7. finished today my cfa2, was a trouble free build beside that i like small case (think is a tetris disorder i caught in my teenage years ;-). once again, these trafo covers look nice but the shielding effect is near zero, to get ride of a small hum i needed to add some grain oriented bands. heatsinkt of the case seems a bit overdesingned, gets only a bit warm. offset without servos was surprising low at around 10-15mv, could use nice matched mje15030/15031 from my previous dynahi project. the amps sounds very nice, one of the few amps that are neural and speedy that i like, really a "wire with gain" type of desing. thanks a lot for the design kevin gilmore and all of you for the help from this forum :-).

  8. Well, our covid Thanksgiving day is limited to me, Claire, Alden and Steve. The meal we thought was going to be more streamlined has taken two days of cooking and baking, and we're not done yet. Here's the allegedly shorter menu: Orange-ginger cranberry sauce Meeso-Horny, I mean Miso-honey roasted Brussel sprouts Sausage-fennel stuffing Sweet potatoes TBD by The TICE Brined roast turkey Giblet gravy Turkey-bacon-swiss burgers for Alden who doesn't like any of the Thanksgiving menu except dessert Pecan pie Apple tarte tatin (inclufed because Alden doesn't like pecan) Whipped cream So much for streamlining. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Pics along the way.

  10. So I shifted the Teac into the main headphone system in place of the NAD M51: So now I can use my Two Little Bears (Passive XLR switchers) to shift between the Mytek or Teac as input and the GS-X, DHSA or BHse as output:

  11. my batch is ready. i went Turkey 101 for the bulk of bourbon this time (last year was Old Grand Dad BIB) and also splashed in some Maker’s for a little balancing sweetness. this year’s initial taste was less boozy than last year. still has 3/4 cup rum, 3/4 cup brandy, 1.5 cups turkey, and unmeasured pour of makers. ...oh i also sampled last year’s, which is officially over 1 year old.

  17. Ugh. What a hideous product. Also I don't know about the FCC mark, but the CE mark is fake - it does not conform with the very precise requirements of the mark geometry. The not so far from the truth joke was that CE from a Chinese product was not a CE mark at all - it stands for China Export.

  22. That's nuts. The Keystep is already a bargain, and still in production. I don't imagine anyone besides Uli ever looked at it and said "the world needs a cheaper knockoff of this" I hope they sell zero units, but I know they'll probably sell tons.

  26. After getting all the frame and horizontal pieces chopped up, I decided the circular saw was not the right tool for this job when I need fancy cuts for the back, so I got a cheap other wood cutty thing.

  33. So, in the same way that a ferret will not go into another room to use a litter box, you won't use a headphone that may be more than 10' away? Granted, the ferret backing into a corner to poop is a bit messier, but it still seems a bit lazy.

  35. Hi Jpleg, I don't think that should be a concern. I don't see myself jacking up the price. Let me give you a quick background about me and my Company. My company is "Kaldas Research"- as the name suggests, we are a Research company. Our main Business is contract R&D and Manufacturing. "Kaldas" is named after my Grandfather Mr. Gokaldas Chandan who was a big inspiration for me as he started with absolutely nothing. Making my own Headphone was a very old dream. I started as an enthusiast with my HD650 around 8 years ago, what rekindled my dream was when I visited Beyerdynamic in Heilbronn back in 2015. The factory and family owned spirit of Beyerdynamic was a big moment for me to consider making my own Headphone. I have been lucky enough to visit G.R.A.S. in Denmark as well as Klippel GmbH, all of them had an impact on me in one way or another. As to your concern, why am I selling at $500? Is the Headphone cheaply made? Does it sound like Garbage? For me, it's simple. I am personally sick and tired of the over-inflation in prices of recent Headphones. Most people are trying to get into the Headphone industry to make money. I am not. I think there are better ways to make money than to get into an overly crowded industry. At the end of the day, I'm just a kid with a passion. The skepticism people have is beyond my control. Regards,Aumkar

  36. I'm still pissed that Bank of America took away my "Cash Maximizer" joint checking and savings accounts that had, for many years, a fixed interest rate of 10%. I got the account when I started practicing law and took full advantage of the interest rate until they retired that "product" and forced me into a new type of account.
