I wish I were similar to the 6 million dollar man! Instead, I think I have a lot more in common with the Bigfoot guy.3 points

I listened to that this morning - I liked it, but didn't match my groove at the time. I will have to revisit. Wow, I really like the sound design on this. Kind of Peter Gabriel(esk). Added. Now: The Sidewinder Lee Morgan 1963 Example:1 point

Also looks like there are a variety of "Old Town Records" playlists out there with Robert & Johnny. Or just hunt down the much in demand 78rpm single. Million Dollar Bills was a b-side. #workisslowtoday1 point

Picked up mom and her husband (Bones) at the airport. First time in Seattle for them! They got in at 1am there time so I let them sleep then went back to work. Bought some last minute tickets to Mariners vs Rockies. Me, mom, Bones, and the kids. We had so much fun, and I'm poor now. Seats behind home plate + sooooooooo many souvenirs. The. Cookout with my new grill. Not a bad day, even if it did take my life savings.1 point

Yep, 4 of the original boards. Plus, I found a full kit for a PGA2320 volume control from @luvdunhill in the same box. I'd forgotten how much I used to overbuy DIY bits and baubles.....! I really think you might be better served by the newer more compact version, and they would ship from Canada, but they are yours if you want them.1 point

Since you're using a passive driver box, you can compensate for the volume mismatch if you have a balance function on your amp. What are you using to power the SRD 6/SB? I have one of those myself. I might pick up a set of the SR-5 Gold. They are quite gorgeous phones!1 point

Synchronous rectifier load test: Temperature taken after 10 minutes of load. Test board same as my previous post with 1oz copper pcb. Voltages measured at input to test board and output of test board. Single rectifier tested no averaging. Ambient temp 22C. Temperatures rounded up to nearest whole degree C. open air no case. current draw | input voltage | output voltage |temperature of | temp of controller in A | to rectifier VAC | after 3300uF cap | hottest psmn040 | 3A 16.2 18.6VDC 107C 69C 2A 16.6 20.2VDC 61C 45C 1A 17 21.8VDC 34C 31C So it looks like 2A at fine. 3A is pushing it a bit hard at these voltages.1 point

I wired up a 25VA toroid with 18v secondaries to the GoldenReference (set up for +/- 18VDC) tonight and as can be expected the heatsink temperature dropped significantly powering the same Susy Dynalo amp. They still run warm but no longer hot to the touch. I guess the take away lesson for me is to allow sufficient headroom choosing the transformer but not to get too overboard. Spent a couple of hours dialing in the offset of the Susy Dynalo, finally sitting down to listen to some music. Happy to report everything appears to be in good working order. I settled on 18VDC rails and 312 ohm for R38/R39 which, after warm-up, results in about 19mA per output device (380mV voltage drop on the 20 ohm emitter resistors). The MPSWx6 output devices run very warm but not hot to the touch.1 point

in balanced mode the gain is Rf/Ri *2 you don't want to change the 5k input resistors, so change the feedback resistors. Unlikely the compensation cap needs to be changed1 point

anything >+/-12 and < +/-35 the amp works fine with 15v or 20v power supplies i am using the power one linears, in 15v mode they typically can be turned up to 16.5 which works fine and you can't build anything for the price of those. or in a bigger box you can buy the 20V units (24v, turn down to 20)1 point

This is what we use for 1.7V led: 859-LTL-307ELC Also the footprint for the resistors on this one is 0.5 and not 0.6 as on most of the other designs.1 point

the lead spacing on the board for the .1uf cap is 3.5mm but the .1inch caps do fit. the 5pf caps are 5mm lead spacing by the way, I have a new name for the thing... PureBipolar (tm&c) would apply to the ss dynahi too.1 point

There are a number of parts to the complete preamp/everything solution. One is this http://gilmore.chem.northwestern.edu/baseboardbal3.jpg (low res for now) Which is the balanced input switch board. For unbalanced you use the neutrik rca to xlr converters. Next is the unbalanced/balanced to balanced converter http://gilmore.chem.northwestern.edu/ubaltobal2.jpg although there is a new rev of this board. you build it with the jfets because the that340 has significant bias currents. Now here is the thing about this part, its completely NO feedback ultra low distortion (<.001%) extremely fast, and gain is controllable by one resistor. (very similar to ayre kx-r only lower distortion and otherwise better) Next is the smt step attenuator http://gilmore.chem.northwestern.edu/attenuator5.jpg 256 steps, .5 db per step, two for balanced which includes a balance control http://gilmore.chem.northwestern.edu/ssdynalobal.jpg Finally is the multiamp as the output board, and also unbal/bal headphone board All the pieces put together comprise a seriously kickass preamp/headphone thing. Verified recently with amb/linuxworks lcduino and standard code. i made a change in the input board to get this to happen. But i really want a production version with touchscreen, and wifi so if anyone wants to step up and help... use any or all of the pieces seperately as needed its sweet i tell ya1 point

http://gilmore.chem.northwestern.edu/kgdynalobalssproduction.pdf r38 and r39 on my version its 255 ohms i think 200 ohms should be about right for 20V1 point

on +-15V power supplies it will do about 30vpp balanced on +/-20v power supplies it will do about 40vpp balanced on +/-15v power supplies its 200ma per channel. would need to adjust the bias resistors to reduce the current for 20v. works out to at least 2.5 watts rms pure class A into 50 ohms1 point
