  5. Iā€™m still working with ā€œMegatron somethingā€. Here is another version. Similar to earlier, but no trimmers. Room for 3W cathode resistors and opto servos (the only servo you need). I built an original Megatron back in 2013, but itā€™s disassembled long time ago and that was kind of a challenge, top tubes with separated floating filaments. I must say this is a bit easier and sonically itā€™s all right. I canā€™t call this Megatron, can I? Iā€™m thinking of Hybritron ā€“ a combination of Hybrid (tubes and solid states) and Megatron. Or maybe I just call it my little ampy. Don't want to be sued by Bourns.

  6. I think I just broke a record. Just hung up from a 5 1/2 hr. phone call with my Mom. I just don't have the heart to cut her short after everything she's been through lately. My ear hurts and I'm starving. She really needs an ear to bend though, and as tough as that was, I just want to make her a little happier. I'm sure after she's gone I'll wish I could talk to her for hours.

  7. I made bison steaks for Thanksgiving. The first one was overdone but not leather; the second one was perfect. I did, however, let them marinate too long.

  12. Frank was life president of our running club - Abingdon AAC - and used to run with us back in the day. He was a real nutcase runner, and used to take his drivers for a run around a F1 circuit so they could "understand" the circuit better. He was fast! Then, aged 44 and on his way to the Airport in the South of France, focusing on a half marathon he was going to run he next day in London, lost control of the car, broke his neck and became tetraplegic, living the last 35 years wheelchair-bound. He was always very accepting of what happened to him, with a ready smile. Born in South Shields, and a Geordie like me. RIP Frank, you were a real character on all sorts of levels.

  14. RIP Almudena Grandes. Died from cancer at 61. She was a writer that I enjoyed very much. She wrote a series of books named "the never ending war" from the losers of the Spanish Civil War point of view (that's communist, anarchists and democrats in general). She also wrote a couple of columns weekly in the newspaper I usually read in Spanish. Clever, kind and decent human being. I'll miss her writings a lot. Godspeed, Almudena
