  1. Agfa Scala was a thing in the 90's, but otherwise I don't remember any B&W slide films.
  2. Not sure it was ever common, but Ektagraphic HC slide film was one of my favorites. https://125px.com/docs/film/kodak/f12-Ektagraphic_HC.pdf https://www.lomography.com/films/871967025-kodak-ektagraphic-hc/photos
  3. For anyone mourning Bob Barker, Pluto streaming service has a 24x7 "Barker era Price is Right" channel.

  6. Back in the day, I owned a pretty good pile of Contax gear - both RTS and G systems. I also worked at a used camera shop and had access to whatever Hasselblad/Mamiya/Leica/etc stuff I wanted to play with. All my best shots from the time were taken with a Vivitar branded K1000 knock off I bought in the 4th grade, and a zoom lens my mother-in-law bought at a garage sale for $15.

  9. I hate the bags and always just throw them out. Green comes in consistent stackable boxes that are almost worth their exorbitant price. So I change my vote to green. It's worth it in the end.
  10. https://www.head-case.org/forums/topic/9993-jacobs-mindless-consumerism-ftwwhatd-you-buy-this-time/page/881/#comment-913964 It's a more limited system, so it may not meet your needs. But if it does, It's worth considering. Otherwise I'd probably look at turquoise for no other reason than Steve seems to like it.
  11. I have the base version of these. The upgraded ones Steve linked to use a more expensive driver, and possibly better amps. They are remarkable in their ability to do deep bass . They are also remarkable in their ability to sound like just about any speaker you like. The DSP is fun. The tunings are done via a USB dongle that you insert. And as Steve guessed, you basically find the tuning you like and stick with it. The app isn't necessary, or really even very useful. I'm not sure I've ever used it. I just keep a download of all the tunings in case I want to change it - in practice I never do. Additionally, repairs are pretty easy and the warranty is long. In the event of an issue, they basically send you a whole module complete with streamer, dac, amp, etc. A few screws and one cable and it's done. The biggest issue would be the company going under. Sound quality is quite good. They aren't perfect at all, but for the cost you'd be hard pressed to buy speakers, amps, dac, streamer and cables that compared. That said, I am probably jumping ship before too long. But that has more with a desire to build something weird and esoteric, and to play with tubes again. So if anyone is interested in a good deal on some of these hit me up. Mine have the Primare SC15 which can be included, or not. I am happy to keep it.
  12. I worked at a used camera store many years ago. We'd periodically find little red plastic circles that said "Leitz" on them in boxes of junk. People would pay real money for those. Even more, apparently, if they are glued to a Panasonic P&S.
  13. The power supply matters so much more, and is so much harder to design. Amp circuits are a dime a dozen - they all more or less sound the same.
