How about the 650 V-Strom like Old Pa has above?

    bike_V-Strom-DL650-Touring-Static.jpg

    A great bike, cheap too.

Upright seating position, not like a bent over sport bike at all.

It's a lot more nimble that the Vulcan.

Take you a hell of a lot more places, more safely than a cruiser.

  2. Speaking of which, I also have to add that Tyll is one of the greatest guys in all of audio-dom, people like him are few and far between as many of us here know. And I met Ivy and Mike too, both of them were very nice. I hadn't met either before and it seemed like they both knew I was a Head-Fier when I walked in... :kitty:

Thanks, mang! They 'knew' you because you just radiate headphone enthusiasm!

  3. We now need a picture of tyll in a hawaii shirt, and a thong

    sitting on the bike...

Then the people behind him really will have a crack in their windshield.

The people behind me have a lot more to worry about than that!

(Hey mods! I'm a bit of a n00b here wrt the rulz, do I need to change the to a link? Sorry, couldn't resist.)

Come on up to our room, Luminette, I think we'll display the dash.

  4. I think that all of the outputs are routed to the 4 channel passive mixer (just to the right of the GPS) and I'm guessing that he has a cable going from that terminated with a female mini so that when he gets off the bike he doesn't unplug anything from the mixer.

Yeah, whut he said. Well, sort of: the output from the mixer goes to the amp, and then the output from the amp goes to a shot 1/8 inch headphone extension cable that goes under the tank bag. Then I plug my headphones into that.

I used the Q-Jays because they are so small they don't interfere with putting the helmet on and off. I tried my UE11s and found I couldn't get the helmet on and off without dislodging them enough to unseat them and break the seal, and it's impossible to get my fingers in there to re-fit them with my helmet on. A good fitting helmet is VERY snug.

Lot's of motorcyclists use ER6 IEMs, but frankly I'm surprised they can successfully use them inside helmets. Q-Jays with ER6 baby blue tips seems the way to go for riders, it seems to me.

  5. I've been having sooooo much fun putting together a 100mph audio system I just couldn't resist posting it up for your viewing pleasure before it starts moving too fast to see.

You see, I bought me a super slab gobbler (highway bike) and I had to rig up some music.

This is what it looked like when I bought it.

A week later it looked like this.

    378108379_LU2bX-L.jpg

Didn't really have to take it apart that far just to install the gear, but I wanted to see what was under the hood. (BTW, what's under the hood is a 1300cc, 140hp, 100ft/lb torque screaming Yama-mill.)

Then I did a bunch of this shit.

Guess how I'm getting to the Rocky Mountain Audio Fest next week?

Mua ha ha ha ha ha!

  6. I asked that at HF and someone addressed me to Tyll. I sent him an e-mail, but never replied  I'm quite curious about their frequency response. I can't get my sound engineer friend with the right equipment to measure them. He's too busy.

    doG, I'm a dick.

Just wanted to mention here that I've been asked if we can bring our headphone measurement system to Can Jam '09 and have agreed. So there's a good chance that if you bring your cans there we can measure them for you.

  7. great pics everybody!

    +1!

    dsc2592vf9.jpg

Iron Dreamer, would you email me a higher (not necessarily RAW but just about maybe 4x larger) pic of this? [email protected]. Or you could just point me to a page on imageshack where I could pick it up. I assume it's still OK to use one of your pix in an ad? What do you want me to put for a photo credit? Thanks, mang.

    Here's mine, just a few.

Thanks for coming, everyone. It was a pleasure as always.

  8. So who have you always put alone on the end of your fucking heaviest show equipment crates? Decrepit, my ass. Pardon me while I throw that fucking candy-ass Beemer on top of you.

    snork.gif

Geez! You've taken to this place quite well.

    smooch.gif

Alright, those cases were damn heavy, so not decrepit. Let's call it cranky.

    ImaPoser.gif

BTW, if any of you guys ever go to Minniapolis, drop Old Pa a note and get directions to that radio museum. It was friggen stellar. Thanks for the heavy lift on that gig too.

  9. Let's send that pix to the guy whose "baby" you're now riding.

If Rick doesn't know what a wildman I am by now, he's just not paying attention.

Nice to know you know how to celebrate!

I guess you haven't been paying attention either. Smooch!

I'm just glad Tyll brings much better booze to headphone events.

I'd say you guys are all quality over quantity, but I know that's not right. YOU WANT IT ALL!

BTW Tyll, if you are hanging around at all after the Aug. 24 meet, come up for a day or two to Santa Barbara and I'll show you some nice riding. Just bring your gear, I have enough bikes for the two of us.

Oh! Like a knife in the back. I'm taking my daughter April with me to the meet and am making a little vacation out of it for her and I. So ... dahmak! ... I can't take you up on your offer.

And in any case, us Beemer guys like our cylinders all floppy-like, hanging out in the breeze, not like those perky upstanding jugs on a Guzzi.

  10. What happened -- the box didn't make it back?

Naw, an Ultra-Micro stack went missing.

Knuckledragger, the pix in my first post are mine, the ones in the second come from a variety of folks. I have a Canon 10D DSLR. My tank bag is basically a camera bag. And, I swear, there's room for only one bottle of tequilla normally in those panniers, the rest is strictly survival.

Not that a bottle of tequilla isn't just as important to me in terms of survival on the road. After 10-12 hours of riding, you NEED a drink something wicked.

  11. Geez, you guys have a lot of faith I'd find this thread ... I am quite irregular here. was riding my motorbike to Lake City Colorado and back last week; didn't even remember it was my birthday til I got home.

I reckon I'll share a bit, how about some pix from my trip? The following is a repeat of a post I did over on advrider.com --- my personal forum of choice --- about my trip down to West Fest, their equivalent of a National Meet. There's a lot of references that you guys won't get, but what the hell, it's easies just to copy the post. Enjoy the pix!

Yadda, yadda, blabba, blabba, if you want everything smooth and organized join BMWMOA. For me, it's about throwing yourself face first into the unknown. Thanks, Dean, for being an ADVevent adventurer and taking us all along for the ride; a couple of face plants and a flat are nothing but the chance to recover, and it was a pleasure to help you out.

    Pix, you say!

I started with 900 miles and about 150 of dirt. It did not suck.

Went to Lake City first to order booze, and then headed over to Salida for a coupla nights with Duke, Tami, and crew.

In the category of "nicest people you ever met" these guys are #1 with a bullet.

Workin' the ADVgrill. If anybody deserves a pile of dough to keep up the good work it's these two. Nice call, Jen. :thumb

    350401830_WdPjZ-L.jpg

Don't start humming a tune though or you're likely to have an ADVcoloratura thrown down on you.

Summertime, and the living is easy.

Speaking of slabs of meat, Meathead has a brat for you, right here!

    350398041_Mm2QU-XL.jpg

    He's an arteest, too.

    350403102_8wovt-L.jpg

Killer sticker! Pansy brought another classic sticker, too. Adways cheap cunt KLR ADVsticker. A classic from the heart. :cry

A coupla sweet ladies that'll hand you you ass in a pretty basket.

    350402656_RsKfg-XL.jpg

    Take a pic, Deb.

Ben and Charla make camp for the ADVfamily. Not long after they had to blockade their tent ropes ... I kept falling over them like a dumbass. They really should have known.

    350399279_EZa4C-L.jpg

    Charla's cute when she giggles.

    350405847_J7nxh-L.jpg

But she'll punch your lights out if you make her laugh too much.

    350404814_w4tjq-L.jpg

So, as usual, I go out for a putts around town for some pix of Salida.

Here's the Dukesters shop with Tami's two doors down.

    350395774_xR82e-L.jpg

Then up to the top of Spiral Drive for an overview of town.

    350380408_TfhXx-XL.jpg

Lesee ... Duke and Tami's shops are right down there somewhere.

    350378987_gaWgU-XL.jpg

Salida is a seriously fun little town; an eclectic mix.

This house is just plain sweet. Old Skool, baby!

    350384288_9iVfq-XL.jpg

Yup, and eclectic mix of old railroad West meeting dot.com refugee West.

Like this guy, "I wants my guns, but I want raygunz!"

    350387242_fP6Mb-L.jpg

:yikes :dunno :scratch That's worth a closer look, eh?

    350387609_ofNa5-XL.jpg

The next day we road part of the TAT to Lake City. WOW! Colorado roads suck ... NOT! Not many pix 'cuz I was having so much fun but, can't think of a better group of folks to travel 140 miles of dirt road with.

    350406331_xdqb7-X2.jpg

I was far too busy handing out or sucking up booze to have taken many pix. Didn't even ride the local passes. My excuse is I had too much good riding getting there, but the truth is I'm old and frail, so really felt the need for daily recuperation for each evenings debauchery.

I did saunter up to the mines about 3 miles up for a few pix though.

    350408667_BHTzG-XL.jpg

Quick, MotoKat, what does this make you think of?

If you look carefully you can see that this outhouse is dangling over a 60 foot cliff on the mine site. They were either shitting down a shaft, or the people at the bottom of the operation got paid crap.

    350412353_ToKYp-L.jpg

Back to town for a couple of pix. Here's a cute church.

    350413704_LGnwA-XL.jpg

    I love the detail.

    350414139_ge4Kv-XL.jpg

    Some cabins in town.

    350414790_PEo2h-L.jpg

After three days of fun and games it was back to a serious ride home. Again, Colorado does not suck.

Hot damn! Let's do this again sometime!

    .

  12. Hi all you Lalalanders! I'm doing the LA/OC Audiophile Society meet again, and would love to have any of you there who wish to come. Here's the official page.

Please feel free to bring gear if you'd like. I will have the Audiophile Desktop playing in the room at times, so sealed headphones would be good if you have them. Here's the details:

Sunday, August 24, 12-4pm at the Holiday Inn in Buena Park.

Please let me know here if you plan to come. Thanks! See you then!
