  1. Me also! I think Chris Rock really kicked some acting ass in the finale. That half smile and the twinkle in his eye and I was right there with him, bathing in the glow of the American Dream. Another triumph and high point for the small screen (great score by Russo-FOTM). Speaking of Jeff Russo, you might try CBS All Access for Star Trek Discovery/Piccard Dusty. That's next up in my show binges. I rotate my "extra's" , Netflix, HBO, Showtime, Hulu, Acorn, Prime/Masterpiece and now CBS, Disney, and Apple. It's only me, so there no conflict and I only keep one at a time for a couple of months before I cancel. There are networks that I only get for one or two shows and when I'm caught up,.. bye bye. One of these days I'm sure they'll find a way to put a wrench in my system.
  2. I'm not into Eurorack, but I did fool around with the one we had at college. You should check out VCV Rack. It's billed as a eurorack simulator. You can build and patch virtual modules which are designed by the guys that make the real modules. Lots of the modules are free and the paid ones are cheap (after all, they want you to buy the real things). Plenty of YT tutorial videos too. https://vcvrack.com/
  3. The more you look at the replays of his escape, the more you realize how many lucky breaks led to his survival. On Grosjean's YT page there is a picture of him smiling from his hospital bed. I called him The Miracle Baby in the comments.
  4. Western Electric 46-A theater amplifier in 707-A Control Rack. Collecting WE theater gear is as expensive as this hobby gets. BTW, I have files on WE data. If anyone is interested I'll upload it and make it available.
  5. I got the Apple adapter (after a cheap one crapped out) to attach my Blackmagic Multidock TB2 with my 2019 iMac. It works fine with the Multidock but YMWV. If you have issues installing the Apogee software, try resetting CoreAudio in Terminal.
  6. I was one of those idiots who hated the halos when they were proposed. Now I love them! A major reality check for F1.
  7. I wasn't even sure if Electrocomplient were still producing gear until this post. Looks nice!
  8. You should be able to do a "dongle to dongle" dongle train. https://www.gearslutz.com/board/music-computers/1261576-tbolt-3-fw-really-no-docks-will-do.html#post13932221 I would wonder if the drivers/firmware are Big Sur compliant (contact Apogee or check their web site for the latest). I've got a firewire 400 Metric Halo that I use for location work. I have a 2012 MBP that I use with an external FW800 drive with a usb dock built in. That uses the only FW800 port. So the Metric Halo is connected to the Thunderbolt 1>Firewire800>Firewire400 (2 dongles). The driver isn't Catalina compliant so I'll need to do a board upgrade when I buy a new laptop. If you can, use the real Apple dongles. They are pretty solid.
  9. Oooh!!! Excited for you Dan. Native Instruments would be my major issue (I think Kontakt will only run in demo mode right now). Terrible customer service there! (unfortunately, most of my projects have an instance of Kontakt on 80% of the tracks). Just keep an eye on that Production Expert online list I linked. It should stay pretty current. Apples seems to have done their best to make the transition as easy as possible.
  10. That is some f**ked up shit there! The response from Uli is shocking IMHO.
  11. I've had the 49 key Seaboard Rise for a couple of years now and in some ways, I'm finally getting some use from it. I was hoping that MPE support in synths and sampler engines would improve more than it has but when it comes right down to it, I've been the main bottleneck. There are a couple of Kontakt Libraries that I have that are made for it along with a couple of soft synths (Cypher 2, Strobe 2 and Equator). They're tons of fun and it would be difficult to create these sounds/expressions any other way (of course, anything can be done if you're determined). More to the point of your inquiry, it isn't that difficult to adapt many instruments to take advantage of a few MPE gestures. For example, Glide is applied to Pitch Bend as a default so doing vibrato/slide on an upright bass is pretty easy. The difference between using a Pitch Bend wheel and the Roli is you can bend just one note out of a chord without having to create separate "pitch bend" and a static tracks. Same thing goes for Slide. Slide is moving your finger "Up" the key on the Seaboard. You can assign any modulation/cc to slide so if you can assign a high pass/distortion noise level, whatever to Slide, than you can increase/decrease that parameter for any note of a chord. There are plenty of YT videos to teach you how to do these things but it isn't easy. It's like learning a new instrument to do these things in real time. I find myself going back in a midi editor and adjusting/erasing/redoing these things so I don't spend much time trying to learn how to do it "live".
  12. Speaking of Walkman,.. I've started watching The Crown season 4 and a scene with Dianna in Buckingham Palace rollerskating listening to her Walkman really brought back some personal memories of those times. My ex-wife Gael worked at a coffeehouse and she'd skate with Elvis Costello on her Walkman in the parking lot after closing. She too was achingly beautiful and it was a pleasure to just stand there and watch!
  13. It's just a matter of time. I have no doubt that in a month or so, 80% of the apps that are currently non-compatible or in testing will be in the yes column. For the one's that don't, it's very bad press but it seems like very well established apps just don't seem to mind it.
  14. Here's a page of Big Sur/M1 compatibility for audio apps. It should be updated regularly. https://www.pro-tools-expert.com/big-sur-audio-compatibility-chart#home/?view_1_page=1 Pretty poor for me so far (over 100 down or iffy) stopped counting after a bit.
  15. I don't know for sure but if that list reflects what is typical of pro audio apps, it's the app designers that needed to get a Transition Kit, and adapt their code to be compatible with the lastest OS/Hardware. As an example, it was just last week that Pro Tools became 100% compatible with Catalina. Apple has provided a few paths for app designers to port their software/hardware to Apple Silicon. It's up to 3rd party app designers to adapt (the more complex and multi faceted an app is, like the Creative Cloud or Pro Tools, the more involved the transition). On the end user end, you need to do your homework before installing or transitioning to new software or hardware.
  16. Can you say motherlode ! Actually kinda sad in a way. I'll miss seeing all that gear in the background of Tom's videos. But,.. life goes on
  17. Why isn't there a "drool" emoji?
  18. One thing that really sets him above so many other greats is the way he makes the right decision over and over, race after race. It must drive the other drivers mad!
  19. Congrats to Lewis! Once again making it look easy and still showing humility. Not a fan but my hat's off to the best driver in the best car,.. again!
  20. Adam Neely, David Bruce and Beato's videos have taught me a lot! I try to take their ideas and use them, then go back and watch the video again to get it into my thick head! Unfortunately I just don't take the time to do that every time and I hope that I get the idea by osmosis or sumthin?
  21. Yup,.. Amoeba on Haight is one of my favorites stores (not just records). Streetlight in San Jose was a real haunt of mine when I still lived there.
  22. Check out Vintage Electronics. If you don't see anything that will work listed on his site, give Bob an email. He's usually pretty helpful. https://www.vintage-electronics.net/turntablebelt.aspx
