  1. “Love, Fear and the Time Machine", the band’s sixth studio longplay album will be released via Inside Out Music and Mystic Production on September 4th, 2015, feature cover artwork by longtime design-partner Seempieces | Illustration & Design by Travis Smith (Katatonia, Opeth, etc.) and contain the following track listing:

RIVERSIDE – “Love, Fear and the Time Machine”
    1. Lost (Why Should I Be Frightened By a Hat?)
    2. Under the Pillow
    3. ‪#‎Addicted‬
    4. Caterpillar and the Barbed Wire
    5. Saturate Me
    6. Afloat
    7. Discard Your Fear
    8. Towards the Blue Horizon
    9. Time Travellers
    10. Found (The Unexpected Flaw of Searching)

RIVERSIDE are additionally working on a musical bonus package entitled “Day Session”, the brighter companion of the “Night Session” presented on the band’s previous album “Shrine Of New Generation Slaves”.

RIVERSIDE’s Mariusz Duda checked in with the following comment about “Love, Fear and the Time Machine":
“On the new album I wanted to combine the 70s and the 80s. The 80s were a decade of musical growing up for me. We don't sound as retro and 70s as before, we moved forward, we sort of demolished the previous foundations and build new ones. Despite the huge dose of melancholy and nostalgia, there is a new space, the songs are arranged with more flow and at the same time they have never been so concise and to the point before. The lyrics on "Love, Fear and the Time Machine" talk about a transformation. About making an important, perhaps life changing, decision everyone has to make at some point in their lives. What happens to us when we have to make it? On the one hand we're excited by the change, we feel free, liberated, and on the other we fear the unknown, we are afraid of what might happen to us. We go back in time and we go forward in time in our heads. And all that happens when we have to decide something important. The first of the songs on the album is called 'Lost', the last one, 'Found'. If we sometimes get lost in life, it is to go through something and be found again on the other side, to be reborn as someone better and more valuable. I would like this album to be one of those that one day simply becomes your best friend.”

  2. Wow, Chris. That was close. Hope you are feeling better.

I had my hernia surgery on the 26th. On the drive to the hospital, I heard the good news from the SCOTUS. About damn time. I am feeling pretty good. Just a bit tight near the incision. And I am definitely enjoying the bullworth-esque sleep.

  3. Did I actually get as far as 5 posts until I got my ass kicked?  :tmonk:

I have come up empty-handed in my search to find what you are referencing; however, I do find a certain Beta 22 ad and a section of the Stax topic quite entertaining.  Now could you kindly point me to the right direction of said ass kicking? ;)

    From Riverside's Facebook Page:

"Love, Fear and the Time Machine" - this is the title of the sixth Riverside album. The band have just finished composing the new material.

"Our sixth album, six words in the title, sixty minutes of new music, that's about how long the new release will be. And we won't be playing hard rock any more", Mariusz Duda laughs. "There will be many more melodies dressed in completely different shades. We're changing and evolving as a band, we're growing up but most of all we want to keep recording different albums which are simply great to listen to. And the new one will be like a deep breath of fresh air, very different to what we'd done before."

"Love, fear and the times that have shaped us have the biggest influence on our life choices. The lyrics will be about everything that pushes us to make the most important decisions in our life."

The band are going to start recording the new material in March and it will be possible to follow the progress of their work on a special Instagram profile (www.instagram.com/riversideband.pl) The album will be released in August/September 2015 and some of the new songs will be played at this year's summer festivals. More information will follow soon…

I do not care what they do; it will be awesome.

  5. My life has not stopped being a circus since the day they were born, Shelly.  But they are all the best things about my life, so it's all worth it.

My number one bucket list item is my wife and I taking all of them to Europe for a month over the summer when they are teenagers, rent a van (one of those "holy shit, that's a big family" ones), and go all over the place.  Zermatt or bust!

  6. Perhaps I did not share as much about my situation as I thought.  We have five children: a set of triplets (7 years old) and a set of identical twins (1 year old).  The clothes are only getting bigger, and we physically cannot keep up with laundry as it is.  We also dream of having two dishwashers, but since we just got the kitchen done two years ago, we're going to use and abuse the one we have and keep replacing as necessary.  Already managed to burn out two LED lights on the control panel.  FML ;D

  7. I managed to get all five kids washed in under 5 minutes.  But when I was toweling them off, one of the 1 year olds pulled the drain and I did not notice it.  Apparently one downstairs shower full of soapy water = 1/4 upstairs tub water + 4" drain pipe capacity between the two.  No flooding though.  That was close :palm:

  8. Main line drain blockage too far for a 35 foot snake to get to.  When the washer floods your downstairs shower (and bathroom floor) with it's contents, alerting you of the blockage, cursing ensues.  Contractor friend will come back tomorrow with big rooter, take off toilet, and run that sucker to the sea if need be.  No flushing, kids get 30 second showers, and backlog of laundry will have to wait.  Oh, and I used pretty much all the towels to clean up the flood.  Fuck, fuck, and more fuck.

I have been playing Steven Wilson's Hand. Cannot. Erase. nonstop for the last 3 weeks.

The album was inspired by the case of Joyce Carol Vincent: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joyce_Vincent

I have concluded that this is the best album he has ever been a part of.  Almost everything he does has some form of deeper meaning, but this really hits home and comes of as especially sincere.  The recent concert only underscores this.  I thought I would never say this, but this takes over Opeth's Damnation as the most beautiful album I have ever heard.  This is the definition of "so depressing it's gorgeous".  So good that I bought the deluxe insane version from ebay.  Absolute masterpiece.  I cannot praise this album enough.

  10. I have never really been a Foo Fighters fan, but apparently Dave Grohl broke his leg during a concert in Sweden... and kept playing!  He must have been out of his mind on pain meds, but he is one tough mofo.

You are looking at the largest, most powerful, most dangerous magnet we carry. At over 1200lbs of pull force, it is likely the strongest magnet available anywhere! These HUGE blocks are no joke. They are extremely powerful and very dangerous, and as such must be handled with extreme caution.

They will pinch hard enough to break the skin and could even crush if you get between two of them or one and a piece of metal. Much worse than getting a hand slammed in a car door. They are heavy, sturdy, and unbelievably strong. Once a block this large is attached to a metal surface it will be impossible to remove it.

This magnet is not a toy and should only be handled by professionals. We recommend always having at least one other person help you handle this massive block. We use a team of at least three.

You must read and understand our Neodymium Magnet Safety Page before ordering these magnets. You must also agree to our Terms and Conditions prior to purchasing. THESE ARE VERY DANGEROUS!

Due to the special manner in which this magnet must be shipped and the danger in returning it to us, we will NOT accept returns on this item. Please be sure you know what you are getting into before ordering.

GROUND SHIPPING ONLY on this item.

  12. Home inspection revealed more issues than it's worth to us  :sadcat: Better to have found them now rather than later but I have a :sadcat:

So the hunt continues I guess.

As much of a downer as that must have been initially, it really is a blessing in disguise.  The inspection is an overview and points out the obvious things (and not so obvious for the average Joe), but there is a lot of the tiny stuff they either do not see or cannot see that can lead to a pain in the ass later.  If it is stuff from original construction that fails inspection, the mantra "where there's smoke, there's fire" applies, since it usually is corner cutting or age that gets you.  If it is secondary construction, it could be "holy shit" time or something minor and more easily correctable.  YMMV, but that's my general rule.

Got 50 staples removed and replaced with horrid smelling adhesive and what looks like tape. OK.

Good news!  The staples must have been fun.  Feel better soon.
