IMHO if you are going to spend well north of $1K, custom IEMs are the only option for that last bit of performance. Having said that, a great audiologist who can achieve that near perfect fit is paramount otherwise with a bad fit you have a small incremental improvement over a universal fit iem.  Luckily John turned me on to a local audiologist who fitted me perfectly the first time. 

 

Yeah I can relate to that.. with more than 4 times shipping back to USA.. Plus with them totally dismissing my notes.  I can see how this could work for guys like me if they really sound great in the universal form.

After going throw allot of the headphones I decided to sell all my expensive gear and just settle for the hp2 with some cheap matching dac and amp.

 

I was looking at the asgard 2 and ckIII to match maybe with the loki dac but have no idea on what amp should sound good with the hp2.

Looking for suggestions.

To make it clear I was talking about the 507, dunno about the 207.

I remembered there a discussion a while ago about how the 507 may be uncomfortable for people with large heads and ears that stick out more than the norm.  Do these observations apply to the 207 as well?

I have a small head and tinny ears, yet I couldn't fit them inside and the top pointy part of the ear would touch the thin hard pads. Which made it impossible to wear more than 30m, it felt like wearing a grado.

I'm also wondering about the comfort, I had the 507 which made my ear lobes all sore.. while the normal bias lambda was the most comfortable headphone I had so far.

Amazon takes down Facebook poll after PS4 destroys Xbox One
 


On June 13th, Amazon put a poll up on their Video Games division's Facebook page asking consumers one simple question; Do you prefer the PlayStation 4 or the Xbox One.
Three days and over 40,000 votes later, the etailing giant has taken down the poll prematurely, as it was set to run until June 20th.

The PS4 absolutely demolished the Xbox One, with 38,984 votes for the Sony console and just 2162 votes for the Microsoft rival.

At this point in the next-gen console wars, it appears Sony has the upper hand, thanks to a more pro-consumer approach.

Sony has no restrictions on used discs being played on any console, does not require online authentication to play single player modes, and costs $399 compared to the Xbox at $499, although that does include the Kinect system, as well.

 

It looks like gamers actually care about their liberty.

Don't know about that usb thing but I can relate to his description of the Nad sound. Is extremely detailed, great highs but never bright, great low extension and overall smooth sound.

Compared to the Qute HD the vocals don't have the same impressive natural fullness though.

I had both the Qute HD and the NadM51 at home to compare and the Qute is very natural sounding dac, even 44.1khz sounds "sweet". Really good for small desktop system because of it's tiny size but in the end I chose the more detailed one, the nadM51, but it doesn't do dsd.

Neither is flat 13= medium bass lift 16= large bass lift, neither obscures the mids like other iems I've heard with more pronounced bass. I like the mids on the 13 better than the 16 but it could be differences in fit influencing this.

I had the two and I also liked the 13 mids better, jh16 was a bit sibilant but I also had a bit of fit issues.
