Hey thanks a lot guys, I appreciate it. Al I did not get the Hyperspace, the price was IMO a bit on the high side and the seller did not want to budge much at all even with the offer to pick it up at his door step. I am sure I will come up with something nice for myself for the 30th, though I've already blown too much on vinyl in a couple of months.
Had a great relaxing day (tough past few days at work which will continue in the coming months), we had dinner with my parents and I'm now listening to an LP of Santana III way louder than I should be, the bass on these puny electrostatic speakers shaking some things up.
Proper celebrating will commence next week in Singapore and Malaysia where we're looking forward to seeing some of my old friends, enjoy street food and of course shopping.

There is a Nott Hyperspace on Audiogon that is a couple of hours from me. An early birthday present dew eet or not? I have a Spacedeck which I love.
IIRC someone told me the heavy platter for the Spacedeck was a down grade. So I am not sure if it's a similar thing with the really high mass Hyperspace platter?

I hope their next models are 5 inches or more, JUST to piss off Dan.
As far as yesterday's announcement, I think high end phones of the past year or so are finally getting to where it isn't as big of a deal to upgrade due to specs/speed/etc. I still despise the size of the screen of the iPhone 5(x), but it does look great, and I love the build quality, but like Justin said, most of the mobile use these days (for most people) isn't making calls, it's messaging, internet, facebook, facetime, camera, twitter, instagram, etc.
With iOS7, however, a big frustration of mine with the iPhone has been address (time stamps on messages), and it just took 6 years. The fingerprint scanner thing, though, is REALLY nice, in my opinion, depending on what they do with it. Like Dinny, I hate putting in a passcode (or in my case, a complicated swiped pattern) all the time, but there's no way I'm going to leave my phone unlocked. Ever. Now, think about this: you're a parent and you want to let your kid play on the phone, but don't want them to have access to email, texts, sms, facebook, credit cards, ebay, paypal, d-_-b, etc. Now, set them up with their own fingerprint and you have a subset of things allowed. Their own ID for games, own browser, own FB account, etc. Similar for the spouse... and then you could have a "Guest" account, which could be locked out a little more. Internet (guest account with no history), phone access, and maybe a little more. This is totally doable, and if they do it, it could be a very nice feature.
Oh, and the camera looks great. I actually know someone thinking about going to the crazy Nokia/Lumia with the 41mp camera, but I want to get his thoughts about this cam instead (to spare him from WP).
As someone who doesn't like the iPhone, this one actually interested me more than previous ones on the hardware front, even though there are only a couple things that really jumped out at me.
**BRENT**
You are a huge nerd

Happy belated birthday Jimmy, hope it was a good one!

Bookmarks? I don't bookmark a thing, what is this "organized" of which you speak?
Sadly I am pretty fanatical about it There are hundreds of pages/threads I refer to numerous times. In comparison my tagging/organizing of music on hardrives is terrible.

iCloud
How is it on PC? My only IOS is an iphone

I used to use Delicious, until without announcement they switched to a new system and I lost around 20% of my bookmarks. I've now mostly moved everything over to Google Bookmarks. The tagging isn't as seamless as it was on the old Delicious.

I am ordering from satodenki soon, so anyone needs anything from there, just let me know via PM. I will finalize things on Thursday.
To make it easier, here are the required parts for the T2 that are available from them:
If you guys can stock up on 2sa1968 I would do that, our Sato batch was genuine Doesn't the Megatron use it in the CCS?

Speaking of Mysore, I didn't think it was as good as when I had it in the past. Did anyone feel the same? I am wondering whether to order again.
I felt the same. Seemed more bitter and flat to me.

Happy birthday Jack, hope it was a great one buddy!

Any Micro Seiki experts here, thoughts on how the 5000/8000 turntables sound?

Vicki it is a beautiful bike, I am one of those cold soulless carbon fellows and I think that bike is a real looker. Congrats on owning her.

Finished Netflix season 4 of Arrested Development. Overall I felt slightly under whelmed. The show works best as the full dysfunctional family; dedicating an entire episode (plus they are 30 minutes instead of 22) to a single character felt off though there were some great ones like GOB and Buster. Loved the Fake Block plot as well.

"19) We have recently introduced a two channel A/D converter that will output both PCM and DSD. But this converter has a few tricks up its sleeves. Specifically we have taken a page from the "What is so great about DSD" manual and applied it to PCM. And it turns out that with quad rate PCM you can get ALL OF THE SONIC ADVANTAGES OF DSD WITH NONE OF THE PRACTICAL DISADVANTAGES."
What does he mean by applying what is great about DSD to PCM? By his previous points it doesn't sound like it has any advantages over high res PCM.
Also is quad rate PCM = 24/176.4 or some other novel thing?

You can still get the black MK1 headpad without 007 MK2 markings from Stax USA for the BL model but you have to ask for it.
And yes, the cable would still be brown.
How much is the BL headband?

I turned on my KGSSHV today to adjust the offsets in preparation for the 009 that I will probably be getting next month. I never did properly get it lowered... They were around +20V.. no big deal, but I figured why not lower it if I can...
20 min into the warm up and I opened the cover... to my horror... I found quite a few ants crawling about inside the amp.... It's that time of the year again. Ants are everywhere, but I didn't expect to find them in my amp.
I need to find a way to keep ants away from my gears. Do you guys have any suggestion?
Cinnamon sticks.

Glad to hear there will be more of these out in the wild

Cheap too, roughly the cost of a used Extreme

Very nice Kerry

$70 everywhere else. Just got mine and it sounds fantastic (shit did I just admit to my Deadhead tendencies? )

ironbut offers sound advice. I went through a bunch of 6DJ8s when I had a Melos wondering why so many tubes were noisy. On the majority of them it turned out it was the pins oxidizing.
