  1. I'm not sure if you guys have been following the recent developments, but there has been talk of an "enhancement". Well, I'm here to spill the beans to give you guys the heads up, in case any of you are in the market for a new DAC.

Currently there is a "silent" promotion going on, which means all new D02 orders placed will actually be for the D02A. For $412 plus shipping you'll get the D02A with external battery power supply and matching chassis, until the first batch ships, then it'll jump to $499-$549 for the D02A and an additional $150 for the external battery power supply.

Yup, it'll be a 2 box design with the second housing the battery and charger. But here's where it gets better...Ken will also be including true balanced outputs and a Clock Sync output :o

I'm pretty sure this will run until the first batch are ready to ship, which is probably a couple of weeks.

So there ya have it O0

edit: Oh yeah, I'm not affiliated (of course), but I did place an order for the D02 today...

  2. Currently, I'm driving a '91 Honda Accord with about 120,000 miles. It's in wonderful condition...but it has no AC. Now, living in Pittsburgh this wouldn't be a problem, but now I'm in Houston. Before moving down here I thought I'd be able to tough it out until the end of the year, but my sweaty balls are begging for a new car now.

Originally I wanted to buy a lightly used car, but now I'm starting to get interested in leasing a brand new one. Given I live 3 miles from my office, restaurants, stores, banks, etc I won't have a problem staying under 12,000 miles a year. Plus, I get the added benefit of having a new car and the assistence of some maintainence. However, I'm not too crazy about leasing because I'll be forced to buy comprehensive insurance, which sucks when you're 22 and you're shopping for "single" cars 8) Speaking of cars, I'm currently looking at:

    Acura RSX Type-S

    Honda Civic Si

    Honda S2000

    Subaru WRX

    Nissan 350-Z (a longshot)

    Mazda RX-8 (another longshot)

I got to test drive the Type-S and S2000, and was pretty floored. Of course, the Type-S held the edge as far as creature comforts and practicality are concerned, but geez...the S2000 was a very fun car to drive, and that's all I'll say ;) The Si is foreign to me, and I haven't driven or rode in a WRX for 4 years.

So, given my current lineup, any tips for a car-buying n00b like myself? I'd like to hear your experiences.

  3. Why does the name matter? If they sound good and are comfortable, I could care less if they were called iSuck.

Well then, the iGrado's would certainly be the first Grado headphone to accomplish that daunting feat!

  4. Why has Zhaolu become synonomous with DAC these days? Why do people spill blood and sacrifice their first born child in defending this DAC? Ok, I understand it's probably a good DAC, and the price is certainly affordable for the large majority of Head-Fier's, but does it really deserve all the attention it's getting? I don't think I have ever read one negative comment about the Zhaolu, which is quite odd. Either it really is that damn good, or it's owners just happen to be sheep.

So what's the deal, am I just a hatin' mawfucka or is this thing overhyped?

  5. It's too bad you're locked into the multiple inputs thing Zachk I think there's going to be a very nice Mapletree Ear+ HD for sale soon which I think would make a great amp for you. But it only has one input :(. Just something else to consider if you are willing to sacrifice a few things in the name of great sound.

Yeah I know, but I really don't like messing with switching RCA cables, since I like to use a CD player and my computer in equal amounts.

I like what I read about the GS-1, and I don't see why I shouldn't get it. I guess it's time to start saving (well, once the paychecks start arriving!)

  6. Well, I've been tossing around the idea lately of getting a new amp and source. I plan on selling my DAC and putting the Millet on preamp duty for my future HT setup.

Right now I'm really looking into the Headamp GS-1. I need an amp with 2 inputs and prefer preamp capability (but don't need it), and the GS-1 also has two 1/4th outputs with a line out. As for a source, I'm looking at the Cambridge Azur 650C from Audiocubes. Other than the GS-1, I'd be interested in a SLAM from Mikhail, or maybe something from the DIY garden (Dynamite?).

I'll use my 0404 and possibly the 640C as sources, and would like to use the preamp feature to drive a T-Amp and my Paradigm Atoms.

It seems the GS-1 is well liked, especially with the HD650's, but I want to hear everyones thoughts here.
