  1. Did up the house for a Halloween party on Saturday. Placed poorly in the pub quiz. Resisted the urge to buy HD600s.
  2. Thanks chaps! A fine day was had indeed. Much booze food and merriment, as it should be
  3. I'm 28. Nonetheless, the filters are on as standard on any new mobile phone contract and the website service for turning it off refused to work so I had to go in store. I cant access dating websites with it on. Not that I had any warning about being stood up via that avenue. Yet more teething troubles with my first smartphone... The chilli dog was good, not great. All euphemisms were given from behind.
  4. Got stood up for a date. Ate my first chilli dog. Got the adult filter on my phone lifted. The chilli dog was the best bit.
  5. Thank you guys. I had a great day (and a great deal to drink...) Threw a little shindig at the house. First time I've done anything for my birthday in 6 years. A night worth waiting for. Chaps were required to wear bow ties. Everything was superb. Except the profitaroles with Marmite on them disguised as chocolate sauce. Those were ghastly. I should have birthdays more often
  6. Belated Hippitty Burpdai Dave!
  7. I don't think I've posted photos in this thread before, but I'm enjoying this X100 more all the time. Couple of the snaps I took on a beach walk on Sunday.
  8. Belated Hippitty Burpdai Gene! Hope you had a spiffy day.
  9. I'd been hesitating over the Fuji for a wee while after I realised it was the way to go instead of the Olympus OM-D (optical viewfinder, gimmie one ANY day over an EVF. Also a bigger sensor and I'll never end up with a M4/3 lens collection anyway). Amazon UK dropped £100 off the price on Friday and I bought one immediately. I've used nothing more sophisticated than an Olympus OM-1 before this and have never had a not point-n-shoot tiny crappy digital camera before. My instant reaction was I didn't like it because the manual focus is useless for the style of manual focus I'm used to with the OM lenses but after a day of guddlign with it I like the X100. The slow change fly by wire manual focus works really well if you use the autofocus as a pre-focus. I loathe electronic viewfinders so the faux rangefinder window was a real deal maker and it is nice but far from perfect. It doesn't compare to the OM-1 viewfinder for WYSIWYG (I've not been out and about yet) and paralax makes close up framing cumbersome (at the minute, I'm getting the hang of it). Also having to use macro at much longer distances than I'd prefer. 1/4000 and 1/2000 aren't available at F2 and F2.8, but the built in 3 stop ND filter helps make up for this. There are two programmable buttons. I have FN set to ISO control and RAW set to film effect filter. I like the auto black and white jpegs and you can set red yellow or green filter for black and white. Battery life seems poor. But It's not really in real world use atm. Lots of menu diving and screen review. No aperture blade issues, but I got the black model which was probably make after they'd sorted that. Ramble ramble ramble. New toy, good fun, still taking bad photos, etc etc.
  10. I've been looking for a digital camera for a very long time now and I thought that the RX100 had everything i wanted except an OVF. Then I saw the price. So I just bought a Fuji X100.
  11. Get well soon Vicki. Hope that it's just a wee bump. Congratulations Mike! Looks like good lobstering! Alloa was great fun and good beer. BrewDoug is on back burn atm. I'm working for Tatlock & Thomson on a lab construction project atm.
  12. About to head off to the Alloa ale festival. I think this will be my 8th.
  13. Hippitty Burpdai Matt. I raise my glass to you. Sleep good.
  14. There's a lot of Babelfish translate going on here methinks. And the intended tone of the original German is being lost, as is the intended tone of the English responses. Meantimes, I'm going to put on my Floats and stay up all night drinking beer.
  15. Bias them to 580, put a Stax plug on them and sell them that way. Bugger all the costs involved in transformer boxes. And the chassis looks like a Blue Peter make. I speak as one of the biggest Jecklin fanboys you're likely to find here.
  16. Bellaited Hippitty Burpdai Dude!
