  1. Sept 1st Apple is having a press meeting for their iPod line like every year, not sure who here didn't know so I posting it incase. Heavy rumors about the iPod touch, nano, and Apple tv. I'm hoping they update the classic with a larger drive but who knows...they might kill the classic this year.

  2. damn good luck with it, i was going to suggest going the i7 930 route as i love mine but the i5 760 is a damn great cpu itself! if you are buying windows always buy the oem version (89$ for home x64). Windows is a breeze to install. after you put it all together and plug everything in just turn on the computer and insert the windows disc..all Should be good from there.

make sure you pick up a static mat before you start putting the pc together. i only remember needing a good philips screw driver (though this case seems to use lots of thumb screws). might want to install a cheap 120 fan on the front and mount your hdd right in back of it to keep the hdd cool, should cost you nomore then $8 for a decent fan. hdd's get pretty hot so its never a bad idea to have a fan infront of them, plus the cool air from the front fan will help keep the internels cool also.

  3. ever like an older song that, that..well that just does not really fit into your regular lifestyle or playlist..a song when someone finds out you like it they look at you like "you know this?"

this is beyond one of my personal fav's of all time..like i seriously love it! its just fun..

i also always loved this one From Tony O and Dawn..

  4. wait it out, unless you need it now. the next gen is always sure to be better for the same price, if you decide to go 3rd gen then you save more money then buying now! the last rumor i heard was the iPhones Retina diplay with dual cameras and faster chip inside.

  5. WEll almost two years and an a minor little update...

so after the flood i was cleaning out my closet and found the Broken GO8 in the closet (put it there to make room for the move long ago and forgot about it). after looking to fix it myself for a few weeks i decided to pop it open and see whats up in there. turns out the cd was just wobbling around so i opened the drive up and next you know....

    THE GO8 WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

its like an old love coming back in my life! i been listening to my speakers with her for the last 3 hours strait! i have not listened to my gear like this in years..i weep the times from ago but its back..my baby is back! she works and sounds a bit cold..i bit of break in is needed since the player has not been used in two years. the sound is so Meridian, the Meridian i missed! hell i have been listening to mp3's for the last two years with the dac1 so its so nice to have the player back. the drive inside it is a dsl-720a with IDE connection, just incase someone needs to know one day.

maybe the flood was not such a bad thing, i really been enjoying the speakers and now my baby..then again maybe i should of grown a pair years back and just open the prick up back in 08, but theres nothing i can do about it now besides....listen to her musical heart beat and never take her for granted again..sonicly speaking

  6. you two are way over thinking the video.

it's clear to me the ice cream truck driver seen the chance to get some points....dancing shithead is at least +15 points right there.

what makes it so funny is out of all motor vehicles on the road he got hit by an ice cream truck, that's just awesome!

lots of nasty language but its a classic

  7. yes the stores do have microcells or repeaters, of course they do...it would be like them using dial-up for their wifi internet if they didnt have repeaters installed. good way to test it is to see what you get around the mall/location and then walk closer to the store itself. in Orland Square mall you get three bars tops but mostly 2 bars, when you are infront of the store youll get a full five bars.

  8. thanks for all the good wishs and help with the vinyl, looked at some of it today and there is mold. i still have some work at the bar to finish up then its just piecing the room back together without carpet. the good news is the dac1 which was the only piece of gear under water with power going to it survived! it seems as though the Monster pc1000 took the electrical hit first and shut everything plugged into it down first before the dac1 got the water. i used compressed air to dry out the dac1 and plugged it in and all worked great, the pc1000 does not work even after i used compressed air inside and out (i remember these were the rage on hf years back when they were selling for 69$). the bad news as you all know is the great/good vinyl has mold and water damage, but i do have a vpi 16.5 record cleaner so with a little time and work the vinyl itself will be saved..sucks the outside cover will have to be thrown out though..maybe i will get some blank white outside covers and print the album art work on them...whatever.

the great news is the carpet is gone and the room is very open and airy, in other words this is going to be fun for "billy vs room acoustics round 82737", i tend to love the airy open sound lately anyway.

manaox, i had my speakers on wood cutting blocks ontop of clay bricks to get them away from the tile/concrete cause the concrete sucked up all the bass. basically the thought was to get the bass to move around the room more without being stuck around the speaker, one thing that sucks about basement floors. the computer was on small risers cause the power supple blew air from the bottom, so to keep the air moving i lifted it a bit. thank god i like to fight with room acoustics though as most of the gear would of been on the floor if not for this.

no flood insurance, actually no one i know in the neighborhood has it either. City says they will help out but you know how that works. not sure if it was luck i was up and in the room when it happened, cause my neighbor got 8 inches of water and when i finally seen the water coming in i plugged up the drains the best i could. either know water damage will happen with any amount of water i would of lost alot more then record covers if i had 8 inches of water for sure.

kg did skylab have anything in the basement? hope he just had crap down there! i believe most of his gear was upstairs when he had the meet at his place (beautiful house btw!)

  9. this mourning at 4:30am water decided to travel up my sewer and all over the place. i was on the net when i heard some bubbling noise in back of me, when i turned around and seen water making its way past my door. i didn't know what to do, move my stuff to higher ground or try to stop the water. i ran to the to drains in the basement and seen a mini version of the Bellagio Fountain's only without the Bocelli (if Bocelli would of been playing at the same time it would of just confused me more..alot more). so what do i do stop the fountains or move my stuff? finally i did what Sean Connery would do on the Rect October..used Combat tatics...plug the drains! plug the drains! wait! no unplug the electrical equipment first then plug the drains!. by then my old room is three inches under, and yes all my stuff is still in the room (cleaning the new place, sleep here one day, sleep there the next). luckily my Dynaudio's where on risers as with most of the other stuff. rescued the computer off the ground as water was making it past the riser it was on..few

opps Dac1 was still on the floor though, i am going to give it a day to dry out. thank god the tube amps were on short amp stands, i did have to move them and most everything to higher ground as the water was still coming in.

after the water recided i started ripping out the carpet in the room, screw drying it and it was to go anyway when it started again. this time i plugged the drains quickly so it didn't do any much more damage.

now the really real bad news, there was all my Sinatra and Martin records along with all my new vinyl (new pressed stuff) on the floor that got damaged bad...really bad. in the time i had after i plugged the two drains up i had to get the amps/computer/b52/etc to higher ground, more important to daily life..

i have a vpi record cleaner, so can i clean the vinyl up? i know the covers are screwed though..

anyone else have a lake Billycaca from all this rain?

going to bed now..wake up at start cleaning the bar (it got 6 inches of water last night).

  10. i found that if you do one of those plug in the back of your stock radio threw antenna thingies work awesome! had one in the TT and loved it...well it did the job with no problems. they're pretty cheap for what you get and you can install it yourself

  11. Got a chance to play with the Droid X and Evo 4g over the last couple of days.

both are so big but fit easily in a jeans pocket (cause they are thin?) i like the Evo's placement of the sleep/wake button but the Droid is unnatural being in the middle of such a large phone. love the Droid X's camera button..probably the best thing i seen on a smart phone lately (next to ip4's display). the Droid X could not make a call, actually the owner and i both tried for an hour (the mic was not working when he held it up to his ear, but for google and speaker phone it worked perfect,,any ideas?), we both laughed at the fact two of the best smart phones on the planet and one cant hold a call while the other wont let you be heard on a call. the evo's 4G speed loaded in at 3.5mbps on 4G, while my ip4 rated in at 2.8mbps on 3g, the Droid x's 3G was 1.5mbps..all very good in terms of speed. all three of us agreed the ip4 had amazing screen when it came to video, we watched a dvd copy of Blazing saddles which looks so damn good on the ip4 screen, while we watched t2 on the droid and UP on the Evo both where suppose to be done in 720p. so it came down to a lower resolution movie looked better on the ip4's higher res screen. but the little bit of extra size or both android phones made you want to watch more movie then the smaller ip4. didnt get to test the camera's. i did play with the Droid while i was trying to get the mic working, i played around in the settings menus and wow...just way to much shit going on there, like way to many choices and i don't like how the menu layout or look is compared to Apple's, then again i could be used to mine though. love the Droid X's "droid" voice when you get a text or turn the phone off, actually its pure awesome. the ip4 feels more professional, the droid x feels solid but the evo felt cheapish in your hands, this we all agreed on with the ip4's glass and steal body was a big step above. the android market is not as pretty as the ip4's app store but is pretty easy to navigate. at first when the browser on the Droid x gave you the option of which one you want to use (factory or the user loaded opera) was cool but after a few times going on the net it turned out to be annoying more then anything. everyone says the phones are more open then the ip4, but to me the two phones O/S just felt less put together. didnt get to test battery life but we all noticed the EVo running threw its battery a bit faster, actually when 4G was on it was really gulping juice where the Droid X and ip4 just siped.

at the end of it all i really walked out happy owning my ip4 but the EVO 4G and Droid X are the best Android's i ever played with and that makes me really happy...the closer the competition gets the more features the end user gets on any phone! also i am really happy to see the Droid so well done, the fit and finish of the phone itself was great, really happy to see the local boys and gals at MOTO step up and get in this race with a horse that can compete. the evo could make a call and have the call be heard so as a cell phone it was hands down the winner, the Droid X had better build and awesome layout with the camera button, the ip4 felt more refined, more thought out, more thought out in the smaller details from the screen to the steal sides, it was clear who was chasing who in the smart phone game. next year i think Android will be toe to toe with the iPhone, then again when Steve announced the 2007 first iPhone he did say it was 5 years ahead of the market.
