  1. so there was an app called "handy Light" which for 99 cents would flash 5 pretty colors on your iPhone screen...pretty cool right? well its been pulled cause a built in easter egg of letting you tether your phone somewhat easily without jailbreaking or signing up under at&t's plan...my buddy got it to work and is tethering now, by the time i found out about it...was too late..damn!

  2. i agree with Naaman's use of a seperate amp, running all your speaker power from an external amp is such an amazing difference in quality. i would recommend you to match all your inside component speakers with the same make and model line with whatever you go with. back in the day i used the crossover on my 5 channel amp to seperate the freq's to the right speakers, but that was back in the day..not sure what these hip kids are doing today or what companies are in and what suck. back then i installed it myself to save money and just spent some time playing with the amps eq to get it just right..hell i still remember birching about the price of all the wiring, haha i remember i bought some monster cable xp speaker wire to run all the car speakers...hey never heard any hum from the install and it sounded great! god i feel old..i have old balls!

  3. Billy, I'm curious which cases you have tried. I've tried about 5 between my phone, my son's and my wife' phones, each case has eliminated the problem.

I have a giffen and a belkin, giffen is like a hard rubber and its better then no case but not as good as the Bumper from Apple. my friend has a bumper and 2 cheap soft rubber cases, the soft rubber does nothing for the deathgrip. which cases do you have?

  4. after watching the video of the press meeting i have a wild theory and i wonder what you all think, then again i know you all think i am nuts so..but anyway i have to say Apple (to me) basicly admitted they knew before this could be a problem, took a gamble, developed a bandaid in case the gamble came back to bite them in the ass, and still does not have a long term fix..at least of what they are telling now

Apple knew this could be a problem..

Apple being the first for many things knew building the antenna into the siding of the phone or the actual casing of the phone could develop this Antenna gate issue for some people. whenever a human touches any type of Antenna their is a reaction to the antenna either positive or negative to from our body, like with the old rabbit ears on tv's for example, it was easy to adjust them and get a clear pic, but when you let go and walked away the clear picture on the tv went byebye and you had to adjust again. different people have different effects with Attenuation (not sure if this is the correct word i should use, but you should get the idea), and Apple most likely knew this and admitted it threw the hard facts as only very few returns or Apple care calls came from people experiencing this while many many others had no clue why people are complaining of this issue. i am sure Apple knew only a very tiny number of people can affect the Antenna negativily enough to actually drop a call...

    They took the Gamble..

Apple loves to be the first to do things, they brag how they were the first for this's and that's over the years in personal computers, mp3 players, cell phones , app store , etc. so Apple basicly being the first to bring the antenna into the body of the phone when the market itself never did this before would not be a crazy concept for someone to accept, yet no other company has done this before. there are some amazingly advanced cell phone companies out there, well they know their shit to say the least. Motorola for example has a huge history with design and manufacture of stuff most people wouldn't believe that come/came from a cell phone company, like how Motorola makes the chips in home theater receivers to decode surround sound is an example of the depth of this company no one really knows about. point is these other cell companies are smart to say the least, so why didn't these other cell companies mass market an outside antenna design before Apple? my guess is they were not willing to take the gamble with the Attenuation or signal loss in the very low percentage of people as Nokia today has said they choose signal reliability over design anyday. point is Apple took a gamble..(which still can pay off very nicely for them)

the Ban-daid Apple made, just incase all hell breaks loose..

i tried 6 cases with my iPhone 4 to see if any of them "fixed" the problem and one did..the Apple Bumper case. out of 5 third party cases non of them "fix" the antenna-gate issue at all, really how hard could it be to make a case to fix this problem? and why is the one case that Apple makes and sells seems to fix the problem? with all the fancy testing stuff Apple brags they have you dont you think for a second Apple developed the bumper to actually work as a fix if it was needed...if the small percentage of people may see this issue became big news? if you don't then then i must remind you Apple is using the bumper case exactly as a ban-daid to "fix" the issue. they also said they will offer a choice of select cases cause Apple themselves could not make enough bumper's, i wonder what Apple looks for in their selection of third party cases, it could be the case would actually fix the issue at hand..

    long term fix..

Apple said they will offer a free bumper to everyone who buys till Sept 30th, even then they may extend the offer to later buys. why the fuck would Apple "may extend"? here is a quote i got from 9to5mac "Connie at Bloomberg (The very same with the "Bullshit story about the antenna"): "Why Sept. 30 for case limit?" Answer from Jobs: "We just are going to wait and see, maybe we'll have a better idea. It's just a chance to say we'll reevaluate it in September."

my bet is Apple is going to see how much of this Antenna issue is still in the news and if its enough then a redesign of the Antenna on the iPhone4, basically moving the break between the two Antennas to another part of the phone, like maybe move it to the top side where people in general wont make contact with it as easily as they do on the lower left side..just an idea of a small redesign if needed.

i have had two seperate iPhone4's and both have the antenna issue and the proxy sensor issue, two out of three million! i should play the fucking lotto with my luck..ugh

  5. .....are about the same as having sex with a live actress, especially once you invoke quantum mechanics (negligably zero == 0).

    Remember the 4 golden words!

    Location, Location, Location, and chloroform..

you see ? now you to can have sex with anyone you want!

seriously look at the positive in any negative!

  6. I am curious to play with the multitasking.

ITs the most overated and shitty part of iOS4.

first off you have to ask yourself what apps would you like to run in the background often?

second you have to ask yourself if those wanted apps can even run in the background, it seems those apps need to be written to be able to..in other words the dev has to update and make it happen.

third you have to remnd yourself to close the background apps, not sure if this runs the battery down much but its useless to swipe thru three pages of mutlitasked apps that arent doing shit in the background.

fourth only way you can close an app is to get in the mutlitask by double clicking then holding one app till you get the red subtract symbol and then you must manually select each app to close out.

i can see this being used nicely on the iPad in the future when/if all the apps are made to run Multitask, but on a cell phone now its just useless overall (maybe one or two apps are good for running the background on a phone).

also to answer your question about the 3GS running iOS4..

since the 3G sucks lagg balls and the iPhone4 can't even make/hold a simple fucking phone call i would say the 3GS is goldilocks at this point. its not that you can't go wrong with a 3GS, but if you go below or above it you're guaranteed to get fucked...atleast at this point in time..maybe the software update and magical Steve Jobs unicorns will make the iPhone4 an actual better Cell phone then the 3GS.

btw: i love my iPhone4 when i am not using it as a cell phone, Facetime chat's are seriously weirdly amazing..actually they can be really special! my sister's Boyfriend got an iPhone4 last week, my sister lives in Utah with him and the family in Chicago has not seen her since my grandma died in November..anyway.. so last sunday my family was doing our regular weekly meet up (my brothers, sister inlaws, parents, uncles, pets, you get the point) and i walked into the family room where everyone was sitting and chatting together while i was i was having a facetime chat with my sister in Utah..Ryan seriously everyone was in tears once my mom looked at the phone and seen my sister, then my sister was showing everyone her new house and it was just really moving! like it really was awesome!

  7. n i did it when you couldnt activate, i went to apple and at&T and they said nono if its a new ipad with a new sim/number. you an easily buy a grandfathered ipad now and just change the payment info. a customer at the bar just did the same last week and it worked perfect, they even showed me the unlimited data plan on their ipad. just make sure the person you are buying from does not cancel the service, when you meet with them for the exchange you just replace their info with yours and thats it. AT&T can not stop you from changing the name,Credit card, etc if you have to and its not up to them who you can change it to. the sim/number is grandfathered in as activated before the cut off date and thats all they care about.

  8. Activate iPad 3G SIM without an iPad - Mac Forums

OK... there is a way to get and manage an iPad microSIM (for 15$) without buying an iPad. Can't get the unlimited data anymore (I don't think), but can someone with an iPad 3G and an iPhone 4 throw their iPad SIM into their iP4 and see if it will work as a data only device? iPhone 4 data-only for 25$ (2GB) sounds pretty good to me. Anyone else?

    **BRENT**

you can look for a grandfathered iPad on CL, thats what i did and it worked easy

    LOL

i average 22 down and 3.5 up on Comcast wired. with the wrt54 router ipad scores 20down/3up and the iphone sucks balls at 13down/3up. Apple Router comes tomorrow so il see if there is an increase. not bad cause the package i pay for is 12down, i guess my hood is not populated with com cast customers or something...either way i am not complaining

  10. It appears that I am having some trouble with the death grip. I dropped two calls with Jp, who was on a land line and I think it is a result of the way I was holding the phone. I will have my bumper next week but was hoping to go without a case.

did you hear a "deek deek deek" sound when the call was dropped? if not you may have a proxy issue!

  11. i hit tap to focus a few times but when you're dealing with a husky that don't like anything pointed at him your timing won't be long. i still can't believe the focus the camera got while looking threw clearish rubber..

then again the yellowish coloring kind of makes it hipster like, lots of northsiders would love this "feature"

This may seem liked a seriously flawed pic but if i told you there was a clear Belkin cover over mounted on the iPhone upside covering the lens when the pic was taken would you give the photo any credit for being in focus? in life The dog is white and so are the walls but how the camera focused right threw the clear rubber case is beyond me..remember the bottom of the case was on over the top of the iPhone..WTF?
