  1. That’s great. Good luck with testing the Carbon next.
  2. I have the original Clear and only listened to the Utopia in a store a few years ago so take my impressions with a grant of salt. I like them both and each have their strength and weakness; Utopia is more resolving with greater micro dynamic, a bit hot with the treble and light on the bass, Clear is not as resolving and slower but more balanced tonally. Ultimately I would probably go for the Utopia if they both sell for the same price. The fact the Clear sells for less than half of the Utopia makes it an easy decision for me.
  3. Good race in France, kept me at the edge of my seat till the last lap. Disappointed with the outcome - I was rooting for Hamilton. Seems like Mercedes need to work on their pitting strategy. It has costed them a couple of races just in the last few weeks.
  4. It’s an X file. I knew there was something different with Kerry.
  5. Happy Birthday Kerry!🎉
  6. I had a pair of Apogee Duetta Signature in the early 90’s. It’s the one piece of audio gears I regret most for foolishly selling.
  7. Interestingly, my experience very much mirror yours - HD800 was the first can I used with my CFA2 and I could not stop listening to that combo. The control, speed, clarity are amazing and addictive. The second can I grabbed to try on the CFA2 was my Audeze LCD2 🙂
  8. As always, a master piece from you John. Care to share a few listening impressions?
  9. that subwoofer is thinking “what the hell did I get myself into?”
  10. That’s one way to find out if cat fur is conductive.
  11. Happy birthday Chris!
  12. PM me. have both bare and assembled boards.
  13. I always use a thermistor for inrush current protection with my PSUs. If you use a thermistor I would try a 1A or even smaller fuse. You may have to experiment a bit based on the thermistor, filter caps of choice.
  14. So they'll sell for enough money for me to retire abroad?
  15. PM me if anyone in US is interested in sticking your neck out and give this a try. Keep in mind what actually ships may not be what’s in the photo and you can lose every penny invested.
  16. I am holding on to my pre-Sonova HD650 and HD800. Someday they'll worth enough to pay for my retirement.
  17. PM me if you are still looking for boards. Also, you need a base board to assemble a PSU unless you have or plan to fabricate your own.
  18. Hmm, that seems awfully high for the 2SK216. I was expecting 200V or slightly higher. Nice microscopic photos.
  19. From an appearance stand point, the genuine 2SK216 I have all have the wider part of the pins being much longer than typical TO-220 parts. The one Jose shows does look the part (and consistent with the one James shows).
  20. Audio Physic Medea II. Each speaker employees 3 Manger drivers and 3 Seas 10" drivers with a built-in amplifier for subwoofer. Crossed over at 120Hz.
  21. You can buy the 2000uf ones for a cool $700 a pop.
  22. Can I roll the “tubes”?
  23. To date I've soldered all the SMD applications using a fine-tip soldering iron and a fine tip tweezer. I also find using very small gauge solder is key - I use .02"/3mm diameter solder from Kester with 2% silver and it works great. You can get a small tube of this solder from Mouser offered by NTE. I can try dig out the part number if you are interested. I want to experiment with a hot air station but have not done so yet. Mostly because I could to decide how much to spend and which one to get. Even the very basic one from the trusted brand (JBC, Hakko, etc.) costs an arm and a leg.
