  1. V2 changes, anodized black frame, pad angle increased, and replace cable sleeving for annoying rubber tubing. 1k added to price for these improvements...
  2. Your description has them moving the tonality toward that of the 007? Do you think it retained the detail level and sound staging of the 009? It is looking like these will pair well with a BHSE :-)
  3. ^^ I feel like I have missed something.
  4. Are you talking about his reviews or actually dissembling things!
  5. A case of better than crap is still crap, with regard to build quality? I liked the HeK v2 out of the GSX MKii and it was very comfortable to me.
  6. I assume the SRM-T2 isn't being counted because of its pension for self destructing?
  7. You would be shocked at the amount of companies do half assed in house translations.
  8. Yea the pictures make the build look the same. I think we are long past hoping that hifiman will up the build quality no matter how far they escalate the price. The drivers for the big Shangri la look to be a fair bit larger and in a housing that resembles the HEK.
  9. Now I am not in anyway implying that they are worth the price, but this does make me hope that some of the fullsize Shangrila headphones make it into the wild for impressions.
  10. Between this and the t8000 you have been duped into over 10k worth of impossible to unload gear ;/ Can't wait to hear your impressions on their sound.
  11. Do we have a confirmation of these yet? I still see nothing on an official page or account.
  12. The alcohol content was meant to part of an overall theme of lack of sophistication about where I live. So apparently I swung and missed. Also believe it or not, even though both are 190 so pretty much pure alcohol. Gem clear is somehow hands down worse to drink.
  13. Best bang for the buck, my vote is going to 'Gem Clear' .. for those of us too cheap to splurge on 'Everclear' ! Special vote also goes to anything that comes in an unlabeled repurposed gallon of water or milk. BBW Well for myself, along with all the very sophisticated people living in small mountain towns across 'merica.
  14. I quick test on my system with BHSE and 007mk2.9 says this is a problem with a component in your chain. With hard diving edm/pop at volumes that made me cringe I experience no distortion. Fwiw I ride motorcycles all the time and my wife thinks I'm deaf. My normal listening volume is determined by her yelling across the house at me. Ymmv.
  15. I'd guess when the next flagship arrives it's a 50 / 50 that they keep the current 009. Their habit has been to discontinue the old flagship. The 007mkii is the exception.
  16. Looks really good. The chrome things over the tubes and the transformer make it look like something out of 1950s sci-fi !
  17. Huh, it's unfortunate that this seems to be a trend continuing with their new amps.
  18. Killer today too, most of the creaks/streams are dry, almost all the terrain on the west side of the valley is rideable again. Kids passed out early, BHSE and vodka is a winning combination for me. Low call tomorrow and the in-laws want the grand kids, so it looks like another hard day of dirtbking followed by music and drinking for me!
  19. @kevin gilmore sorry this is a bit off topic here, but you mentioned that the lyr3 has some issues. I looked for a thread on it but haven't found one. Are you willing to share your thoughts on the design of that amp?
  20. Conditions were pretty epic today. Rained most of yesterday. Plus all am until 9 then the sun came out. I went out at 1 pm, dirt was perfect and mid 50s plus a very strong wind meant that after warm up I hit the slow technical stuff for 3 hours and hardly went through my water! Late October through April is my favorite time of the year in the Sierras. BHSE always delivers when I get home, thanks Spritzer. Plan is the same for tomorrow.
  21. Long day of mountain single track, followed by BHSE and drinks.
  22. The pricing on this is shocking to me. I love monoprice for cheap cables and things. But a 700 dollar amp from them is really confusing. Every single $1 cable a have bough from them works perfectly. Who knows maybe they will make something decent. I assume Cavalli is nothing more than a branding exercise, and he is not really involved.
  23. Possible yes, but very very large company's have tried it. They failed. Everything is politicised with manufacturing and ip in China and the courts support it. That's why there is no fear and these blatant rip offs are so prevalent. I'd wager that the stax mafia political influence is quite limited in China. Bribes will not hurt. But yea when China was playing well with the West there was little success now that chance has to be pretty much zero.
  24. Based on the name of the site, this is being done by a person who used to go by xianghao here and in what I'm sure will be a great surprise to many. This 'new' amp was first posted by Thinker to head fi.
  25. https://www.quartet-lab.com/ I think the guy who is doing this was banned from here and is selling KG designs on Chinese sites.
