  1. Cheap laser printer for wife's home office. $180 MSRP - $80 weekly special - $50 recycling bonus with presentation of long-dead inkjet I dug out of a moving box = $50. Fuckers will make it all back in toner, of course.
  2. It involves Danish bacon and makes your music taste good, too.
  3. He belongs downstairs.
  4. Lloyd Cole -- Live at The Whelan, Dublin Recorded on a Macbook Pro and Apogee Ensemble, sounds like a million bucks. Ain't technology wonderful!
  5. Pure Blu-ray player or universal player? The OPPO's competitors in the latter class are all around $2K, so it'll probably be a while.
  6. The early adopter units will also lack RS-232 hardware, so that's one difference other than, potentially, price.
  7. Amen! Pretty much rubs out every remaining small annoyance of mine on the software side. Now can we have more storage and a faster processor and n wireless and a pony in the next hardware rev please?
  8. What are the terms? I wouldn't mind "trialing" a DAC2.
  9. Hey, those are gullpleterte plugger av h
  10. I guess the main ones would be better DVD upscaling, DVD-A support and potentially better audio player performance overall. Honestly, if it's an either-or I'd get the PS3 considering all the other stuff it brings to the table: games, networking, PC functionality etc. You can work around the IR control issue fairly easily and I can testify that it's a really excellent Blu-ray player.
  11. Hooray, they let me into the early adoption program. Should have it next week. Looks like it'll be a very nice player for folks like me with a mainly HT orientation and potentially a pretty decent transport for those with higher-rez audio aspirations, too. Let's wank about it right here!
  12. Ten feet down the slippery slope and gathering speed...
  13. Hmm, allowing simple adapters would certainly puncture the giant-conspiracy theory somewhat. Thank goodness, the cognitive dissonance was killing me.
  14. Apparently it is an authentication chip. As much of an Apple fanboy as I am, if they really are going to try and make 3rd-party phone manufacturers pay to play, then that is just not froody.
  15. Back to Ayre, they've recently put two interesting bits of reading up on their Web site: A rundown on the asynchronous USB implementation in the DAC (sounds like it's using the TAS1020B?) as well as the details of the MP filter that's in all their new digital products.
  16. The OPPO was probably being let down by the crappy amp.
  17. So what happened with the P-1? Todd says they're all gone and Luxman has decided there won't be any more, tough titty.
